unfortunately Hitch didnt get a single response so i felt the need to support what he said almost a month late
i understand that people will be getting bored with this debate now but at the end of the day, the core reason for this scheme is for the safety of drivers who are out there every night effectively chancing their lives. it may seem a little extreme but it is reality. what is more important than that?
i go home every day so it doesnt really affect me however, it does not change anything in my view. i still look out for my fellow drivers

A Man with some sense.
I thought this site might be sadly lacking it
Going by some of the replies most don’t care about anybody but themselves, and that is the problem these days.
Or pehaps they are not one trick ponies, and use the website to discuss all manner of things truck related, not just bang on about a single issue.
Perhaps if you made the effort to actually be part of the community instead of pushing one idea, and criticising constantly the way this website is managed
(JohnGR -61 posts of which @57 are either the text alert scheme or moaning about TruckNet), people might actually start to listen to you…

Community Manager now not Admin
Welcome to the debate or are you here only to shut it up because it does not suit your agenda.
Truck Crime should affect you as well, because I think your a driver, so lets hear what you think about the alert instead of just butting in to cause trouble.
Whether I have made 1 or 10,000 postings am I not allowed to highlight something that concerns us all.
Yup you can highlight it one a thread as much as you wish,
My point is that PERHAPS the members here would listen you to more if you were a more recognised contributor and not totally focused on one issue, and perhaps if you realised while you feel that issue is important that others may not wish to contribute to your thread, and that haranguing them for not doing so is unlikely to gain their input.
as for my title, I am still the website admin, and a forum admin along with other members, my job is Community manager…
And for your information, despite your obvious dislike for this website and iits policies on outside weblinks, I do think that the text alert is a good idea…
and am in the process of writing my weekly submission to RBI which includes topics on the forums that may interest their titles, and this topic is included in that.

When a posting turns up on here about a driver being murdered while attempts at hijacking his vehicle, or on the BBC news. Then you can explain that you tried to shut a member up that was attempting to try and stop it happening. or openly did not support something that might of helped.
Have a week in hospital with head injuries after being clubbed on the back of the head and maybe then you might even support any crime reduction initiative.
OK it wont make you any money from supporting it, but your membership might just respect you and in time even thank you.
