Annoying Things People Do on the Roads

Joggers running on side of the road with backs to the traffic. grown men n woman as well…learnt not to do that when i was 6

Metronomes I call them, cus their speedo swings between 50-60.

Poor lane discipline. The first rule of the road is keep left, so why do 47mph in the road works in lane 2 when lane 1 is empty.

+1

And OAP’s in lane 3 sitting at 50mph

Children, driving little hatchbacks as if they are in Grand Theft Auto !

People not filtering properly when two lanes become one.

Truckers pulling into the middle lane with an incline coming up, then not pulling back into lane one when they clearly don’t have the power to get past. I am on about the ones that aren’t even up the side of the one they are trying to overtake, but sitting like a muppet six foot from its backend. :imp:

Biggest cause of road congestion is drivers not moving over into lane 1 of a motorway.
Its an offence to hog the middle lane but iv never seen it once being enforced

thats how the generation of today learn too drive

pricks that drive with fog lights on when it is not foggy

Hapless drivers that folded their mirror in when they last parked in 1996 and have forgotten to put it out again. It shows just how oblivious some people are to what’s going on around them.

stuck behind (in my car) car doing 40ish along a country lane where it is tricky to overtake, then they come to a village with 30 limit and continue at 40

I always think they do it so that my juggernaut can drive up the inside at 52, so I do.

So do I. I’ve even had it where there was a car in lane 1 at 47mph and a car in lane 3 at the same speed sat side by side.
So I left it a couple of minutes and went through the gap and watched the empty road behind me get bigger. Neither car moved over or pulled in behind one another.

Not an excuse but may be a reason. For a lot of people driving from a to b is just a chore that has to be done, they have no interest in it so take no pride in it.

Try driving in Ireland. When you get back to UK everyone will seem like a driving God!
e.g. people who slow to a crawl or even stop at a roundabout when there is nothing on it. The majority have no clue about lane discipline. Those who have been driving as long as 30 years and never took a test!
L drivers whizzing around unaccompanied against the law. Almost no services on Motorways anywhere. Want more?
Lots of good truck drivers though. You have to be to survive the above.

Precisely! I think that the physical act of driving is way down most drivers list of things to do whilst they are actually driving. They are wondering what to buy for lunch later, thinking about the argument with their other half etc, the list could go on. I sometimes travel as a passenger with (non pro driver) friends and am constantly staggered by their lack of potential hazard perception! I’ll spot something ahead and think “I’d be coming off the gas now if it was me”, but they continue blithely on until it’s an emergency stop situation where suddenly it’s the other guys fault!

The one that really gets me are where roadworks change from 3 lanes to 1 and drivers fly up the outside lane at 100mph and the squeeze in front of me at the VERY last few metres of the cones, sometimes forcing me to brake… then they get stuck behind a lorry 100 yards in front at 40mph, or perhaps the roadworks are only 400 yards long.

After years of psychological and mental work relating to driving, I can keep calm and composed in nearly all situations, I never get angry or enraged, and I let all the muppets get on with it. But for some reason that one act sets the red mist off every time and I find it almost impossible to overcome it for a good few minutes.

Drivers trundling along a motorway at 49mph, you move out to the middle lane to overtake at 52 or 56mph they speed up to 60mph when you find you haven’t the speed to overtake you get back in the lefthand lane then they are back down to 50. They are either playing a very annoying game or just totally unaware your are there. Yes I know its a big truck but drivers just so busy in a world of their own.
