hitch:
hes i think Worcester area super cop got tickets to drive anything trucks and plant wise
he pulled the Paddy cos he had something wrong with the trailer

thats why everyone gets pulled they need an excuse

his brother is plod as well been on telly in various things

I may be wrong here but a Police officer can drive any vehicle to a safe place to park it without having the correct licence.

I think that would only apply if it was parked in a position that was a danger to others.

The way i see it is Angus is only doing his job, afterall if those drivers didnt break the rules they had nothing to worry about, but would people still call it victimisation or whatever if one of those drivers fell asleep behind the wheel and and killed innocent people due to driving excessive hours…better to get them off the road sooner rather then later… :imp: :imp:

Programs like this always shows drink drivers. Surely thats victimisation aginst drunk folk  (joke)

The program might have featured another 10 drivers who did nothing wrong but then that would have made crap TV wouldnt it…

ROG:
The other thing I noticed was that he did not jump into the truck and say to the driver - you’re nicked for X or Y
He gave the trucker a chance to come clean and tell the truth before any caution or arrest was done.

Although we did not see one come clean straight away, I suspect that if one did, then all the driver would have got is reported and a fine issued…

How much fairer can he be?

he had to ROG, as he didn’t have any proof of any wrong doing, he only had a snipet of suspicion. so he had to rely on the numpty driver admitting to a crime instead of denying everything.
they always ask you to come clean, like they’ll let you go if you promise not to do it again.

the scania he saw going rather fast then hit the brakes when he spotted the car, which is why he got pulled

as for Mr Nairn is he not poacher turned gamekeeper has a knowledge so use it to his advantage wouldnt we all :unamused: i would

but dont forget they also hilighted the fact there was lack of safe parkin at nite as well also the price of parkin ect soz didnt see all of it  but did see most

I have a system for dealing with cops, I dont bother them and they dont bother me.
If they stop me for a check, they are doing their job, my job is to make sure they dont find anything to complain about.
I’ve been driving trucks for over 45 years and in that time I have found the police to be just like the majority of working folks, sure I have met a few A******** in that time, but only a few! That goes for lorry drivers too!
So, ‘Lang may yir lum reek, Angus!’

Our fellow Driver, Barrie Tozer, of Truckersworld, did a good job on the same programme putting the lorry drivers point of view and deserves the support of all of us.
So well done, Barrie!

Alex

Alex makes a good point, over the years I have had quite a few dealings with the police (mainly through work) and always found attitude is the one thing that will either make it a reasonable experience or really ruin your day… there are a few coppers out there that have a power trip, most coppers will tell you off the record they dont like them much either.

As far as this particular PC goes I have only hearsay and gossip to go on, hardly a basis to make a sound judgement on the man, I will say I would MUCH prefer to be pulled by a copper who has a working knowledge of the industry, knows what he is talking about, actualy understands the hours rules and how to read a chart, than some who think they do, and I have met them more often that the knowledgable ones.

IF this particular PC has spent time in the industry and by virtue of that has learnt some of the tricks that go on, that only now makes him better at the job he is doing now. and his job is to catch guys running bent. I am not saying it applies in this case but a Poacher turned game keeper is a huge asset, I know of ex hackers who now earn a fortune in IT security, ex burglars who now run very legit and succesful home securiity advice and once met an ex car thief who now earns a great living appearing blanked out on some of the major motoring TV shows.

One other point, I work now for the flagship titles in print and online for our industry, I have never made a secret that I may have in the past made mistakes and errors of judgement, does that make me unsuitable for the roles I now have?

As some bloke somewhere once said
“Let him without sin cast the first stone”

so if i drive a uk plated lorry i can please myself…■■ when i slap magnet on now i feel quite confident followin an irish fridge lorry up the m5!!!   there plenty of wolfs still wearing sheeps clothing that never get 2nd glance.

as long as you are not in a scottish fish wagon you will be fine as he loves them aswell and thats speaking from my previous companies experience and mine aswell. My gripe was getting pulled over on the hard shoulder on a busy day with my younger brother with me by him and his partner and being told it was a routine check!! When i was asked for my tacho he took a major hump when i asked him to come round my side and get it, his reply was i can come and take it and have you arrested :exclamation: After 5 minutes arguing on the hard shoulder i followed them back to perry bar for another argument. He is the only policeman in my 14 years driving i have total disrespect for. Do they have the right to stop and do a routine check on the motorway when he was working out of the weighbridge that day??

But why did you ask him to come round and get your tacho? Could you not just have done the simple thing that most others would do and hand it to him yourself.

Irish wagons and Scottish fish wagons - easy targets for good reason.

For the reason he came out the weighbridge then pulled me over on the hard shoulder on a busy day putting mine and my brothers life at risk by sitting there rather than put the follow me signs up and take me back to the weighbridge. I ended up in the weighbridge 10 mins later so him pulling in front of me and slowing down forcing me to break harsh then why should i do as little sheep do and bend over for some one in uniform?

Of course he didn’t want to come round to get it, being on the offside of a truck on the hard shoulder is a bloody dangerous place. No wonder he then took exception to you.

I assume you were running resonably legally, so why are you running the attitude, let him see your cards and sign them and on your way. The Cops and VOSA are out there they have a right to stop you, it’s part of the job.

Some people are their own worst enemies

I was running right but why should my life be put at risk with the trucks inches from me when it was perfectly unavoidable if he only took me to the weighbridge to do the control■■? So you numpties think it is ok for him to put road safety (mine) at risk for the sake of getting a tacho check!!! How many accidents happen every year with people being struck on the hard shoulder? :unamused: :unamused:

Didn,t know you were into that sort of thing  :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

makes you wonder how many trucks were pulled during filming that were OK, but not shown in the program  :unamused: :unamused:

There would have been quite a few, but they would not be newsworthy.

Bet you anything the man himself posts on here under a pseudonym :sunglasses:

Limeyyphil,he did have evidence if you watch it.
He had he’s 2 tacho cards which didnt match and a pod for a delivery he’d just done.
As far as im concerned,if you do nothing wrong, they cant do you for anything but this driver had done wrong and got caught, they call that tough ■■■■■ where i come from!!.

Wished their was more coppers like him about instead of me keep seeing these hobby bobbies about.

At worst they are gonna knock your drivers mirror off, that is if you are in a RHD truck, to get to you they probably need to climb right over your trailer. If you hadn’t spent 5 minutes arguing you could have been out of the way of the nasty truckers 5 minutes earlier :stuck_out_tongue:

Has your mate Bob seen this thread?

Looks like Angus Nairn fevers rubbing off on tugging Montgomery’s finest.

Just spotted a plod patrol Sandwiched between Manfreight to the rear and Monty to the front on route to Ireland give the Monty a pull.

Maybe there is something with this victimisation claim after all ?
