dont post here very often but a have a severe bee in my bunnett. i see 150 pallets , some times more go out of our yard to be delivered by another company every week , now i challenged our manager about why this was happening and why are our own trucks are not doing the work… his reply was ‘’ its cheaper for them to do it ‘’ … now for the life of me how can it be cheaper to get someone else to do your own work…
its beyond me…
whats your view guys…
ps. some of our own trucks and drivers are lying idle when this is going on…thats what’s p****ing me off , keep your own guys in a job , not some other companys …!!!

I don’t know the full story but
If it’s only a small number of pallets to go a long way, it will probably be cheaper for your company to offer it to a haulier as a backload than it is to send you. Even if they have to pay you and your truck to sit in the yard.
Do you backload? Are you working for a restricted O license and can’t do general work.
With the information you’ve given I can only assume but it sounds like a case of basic economics to me, either that or the subbie is backhanding the TM

i get a lot where i work iam a dedicated subbie for a big logistics company , and say a a job comes up to somwhere lets say as an example london to birmingham ,on my set rate it will cost them 500 quid.but mr broomie has come down from birmingham with his load of ■■■■■ and delivered in london and needs to get back to broomie land so he will do the london to birmingham job for 200 quid, and leaving the big logistics company with a three hundreed quid saving

simple, a large majority of hauliers are willing to work for rates which are below cost when it suits them
no guys , these loads are going way down south from the central belt of scotland… i give up with them… if it go’s ■■■■ up for them , well my conscious is clear…and i am now calm and collected. thanks for your imput … cheerz
