The agency who helped me pass my class 2 have told me “due to my PCV pass in 2002 i had “acquired rights” to my CPC and did not need an intitial qualification for my class 2 (i passed my car in 2000)” A line they are currently maintaining.
HOWEVER after speaking with another agency regarding a job, it turns out i DO need my initial qualification, as my completed elements so far (28 hours) and my acquired rights are NON transferable…
IM SOOOOOOO ANGRY its un-true, its bloody lucky i havent been sent out, as i wouldve faced a £1000 fine ETC ETC…
anyhow, i know have to find another £250 to do the initial qualification… wich im NOT ■■■■■■■ happy about as i dont really have it top spare… GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Hi Bungle666, I was told that I had acquired rights and did not need the initial qualification just 35hrs CPC to get the DQC card for Cat C but if I changed my mind and wanted to drive a bus I’d have to start from scratch again but if you can get the money together it would be another string to your bow so to speak (which has got to be good in this job climate). x
This is a great example of why " agencies" recruit drivers and " training companies" give people advice and training to ensure they are safe and legal to do the job, no disrespect to you but it is always better to ask of those who know and do this for a living not someone who " says " they know.

OK, I am glad you got this sorted before venturing out
Now for the plus side … if you can call it that …
You will get 5 years worth of DCPC by spending the £200+ on the LGV initial dcpc
Passing the LGV mods 2 + 4 will get a DQC issued and when you complete the last 7 hours of your 35 periodic that will get 5 years added to that DQC
EXAMPLE
Pass LGV mod 4 on 02/05/2013 get DQC with 01/05/2018 LGV and 09/09/2013 PCV
Complete last of 35 hours at any time before 09/09/2013 and get new DQC dated 01/05/2023 for both LGV & PCV
In the above example no more periodic dcpc will count until 02/05/2018 because periodic dcpc hours can only count if within 5 years of the DQC expiry date

Hope you get sorted.

Apparently i was cleared to drive by the “compliance department” who were under the same impression that i had “acquired rights”… I supplied them with the correct information, after a researched it myself, and have caused a bit of a stink!

But it seems COMPLETELY pointless ROG, given i already have 28 hours of DCPC training! another 7 hours and i get my card! (although as ive found out now, thats only for my PCV…
So when I complete my LGV initial qualification, do i get a cpc for BOTH my LGV and PCV? or just LGV? and then i assume i have to complete the final 7 hours to get my PCV aswell, so then i got both??!!

Those 28 hours + another 7 hours WILL count for both LGV + PCV
When you complete the initial dcpc mod4 you will get a real DQC instead of the GHOST DQC you have already
That real DQC will state the two different LGV & PCV expiry dates for dcpc if you still onlly have 28 hours of periodic done
Once you complete the last 7 hours making the total 35 you will get another DQC expiry dated the same for both LGV & PCV
Because the DQC you got when passing the LGV mod has a 5 year expiry date for LGV and all dcpc hours count for both then an extra 5 years get added to that LGV 5 year expiry date
In effect - you get about 4.5 years worth of periodic dcpc hours EXTRA by passing LGV mod 4 now …in your case
