Hi
I am quite new to the forum, and it’s my first post here. My name is Andy, and I am an experienced but bored bus driver taking a new opportunity as a truck driver.
I have done my second day of training today, was good.
Made some silly mistakes, but will try again tomorrow.
Have my test scheduled for friday, at 1.45 pm, hope it won’t get cancelled as I had to take holidays to do my training.
Because of my current job, won’t be able in the future to do 1 day a week lorry driving, and will have to try find a full time job…
Oh well, now have to wait till friday and see whats gonna happen. Will keep you updated as my training progresses.

Hi Andy,
The DSA usually only cancel a driving test when something really unexpected happens, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
There are some other bus drivers on here who saw the light and no longer carry freight that answers you back.
I’d like to wish you the very best of luck in your efforts, and please do keep us posted.
If you’ve any questions, we’ll all do our best to answer them.
You have helped me a lot already. Because of your hard work here I have used a local driving school instead of a very good internet offer (lgvgroup). I hope they will work as usual on friday afternoon instead of striking.

Hi Andy,
I’ve just had a look at lgvgroup, and it looks like a broker.
There’s nothing illegal about being a broker, but the way that brokers generally work is that they charge people more than they would pay if they went directly to a ‘mainstream’ driving school. Some brokers also try to offer courses that they’re not qualified to deliver, so again, my advice is that it’s usually cheaper to go directly to the company that actually delivers the training you want.
If you’re ever unsure, then my best advice is that you ask on here, because there is a wealth of people ‘in the know.’

I am glad this site was of help to you
I had a look at the ‘company’ you nearly went with assuming it is thelgvgroup.co.uk/ and as they claim to have over 35 training centres then I would deem them as a broker
Another reason I think they are a broker is their lack of accurate info …
The same C1 entitlement is needed in order to be able to drive an ambulance or to commence a career as an Emergency Services Paramedic. Both options will require completion of the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
Dcpc is not required for either of the above
Please let us know the proper training school you have chosen especially if you recommend them as they can then be added to the list on this site if not already on it

Hi Andy,
I hope your test goes ahead as planned, and I’d like to wish you the very best of luck.
That was first test ever I failed:((
Cars on 1st attempt in Poland. Whoever tried that knows, what I am talking about, buses in UK 1st time pass as well. Nevermind, will be better, more careful on Thursday. Waste of bloody money:( £330 for retest including truck:((
I am so sad today, but it was my fault, could not blame anyone else:(
