Seems that Ms ■■■■ has fallen on her sword. Of course the person at the head of any organisation is ultimately responsible for its failures, but this smacks of arse covering by Khan et al.
That she has “resigned” is, I think, positive. But she is not the only one not worthy of their posts. Personally I think the Met needs a good clean out. My experience of the Met began 55 years or so ago. I was not at all impressed then and the very few interactions I have had since then have not changed my opinion. And observing what they do does not inspire any confidence in me that it is a police force worth respect. Regrettable, but true.
Can’t really comment mate as apart from when I was shooting at things for a living I’ve had little or no interaction with the police at all.

The Met was always the go-to for any candidate failing to get into the constabularies.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has a new job as Minister Of State, related to Brexit opportunities.
Looks like the job description has been adjusted to a level suitable for his level of competence.
gov.uk/government/ministers … efficiency
He will be responsible for…nothing.

Not only has he no job responsibilities, he has asked for help with it.
And following on from…lots really…especially maybe the resignation of Lord Agnew because of Gov lack of chasing financial fraudsters…we have Lord Faulks telling of the May administration ignoring possible money laundering, and misleading him.

Freedom of Information request to publish visitor log at Number 10 during lockdown refused as being “vexacious”.
mirror.co.uk/news/politics/ … s-26276898
How difficult would it be release that?
If there are security concerns (?) It could be suitably with reasons for such given.
No. 10 also says it “would be of limited value”? Is the supplier of Information to be able to decide what is useful for the requester to ask for? Foolishness and against open government.

I would say it is all part of the idea that the government can decide the agenda on everything, and sod the law. Look at the precedents with Boris &Co. They will push on doing this unless there is enough successful pushing back. Which there rarely is. Then we will truly have a leader of the government that does just he wants. I believe that is known as a dictatorship. Boris & Co are poison. Get rid of them.
Edited for a typo that caused a grammatical error. Ooops…
I think he devious path through Parliament chose by Patel for her bill might come under the “Shenanigans” heading?
Moorhouse explains all here. He has a definite point of view, ( no surprise) but his facts are seldom wrong.

Should rights of free speech and peaceful protest* depend on a copper`s opinion of whether someone else might find it upsetting?
*We have laws about non peaceful acts already

A coppers opinion here is applied across a range of offences… and like this is largely irrelevant when put in front of a court
