And so the Olympics begin to take effect

Surely not! After all the clever guys have done their very expensive planning and assessed the situation, a few ignorant drivers said, “But what if…”.
Obviously, the drivers were wrong and it will never happen.

Oops, hang on…

It has just been reported on TV news that a coach full of athletes have been lost in London and they are supposed to be on route to Birmingham. I suppose its just teething troubles but i wonder where they have got their drivers from, maybe Mumbai,Karachi,Bucharest or Lithuania, lets hope it all goes well in the end but i’m not holding my breath.

Heard on the radio an athlete tweeted 4 hours from heathrow to Olympic village as driver was lost. Surely they did route training before they started.

Stobart must be doing coaches now then…

I really couldn’t care less if it goes well; People pay a fortune in road tax yet are treated as second class citizens just so a few athletes (many who do dull events like rowing in it’s various forms) can have their own private lane. I hope it all goes wrong (G4s have got the ball rolling) and the olympic loving flag waving loonies are made to look a right bunch of (generic term for ■■■■■■).
How can this country benefit from 2 weeks of gridlock?

Feel sorry for you guys, had to put up with this in Sydney in 2000. I took two weeks off though, so I wasn’t working.

How can this country benefit from 2 weeks of gridlock?

The idea is industry that is supporting and surrounding the Olympics benefits, not the average middle class person, after all the business’s involved are all headed by members of our governments, ie more self serving pocket lining, do you actually expect anything less ? :smiling_imp:

And if you add to this the special Olympic taskforce, that dress in their own uniforms and have greater powers than the Police, specifically to enforce copyright conditions of the Olympic brand…We really are on the way to a place worse than Hell! Special legislation rushed through Parliament :unamused:

I really hope that Britain fails spectacularly with these Olympic Games, in the name of freedom and liberty for the comman man…It actually makes me want to do something to cause a failure :open_mouth:

You know, I thought it was just me…

A driver told me last night he had to drop at the “north Greenwich arena” no such thing we both thought! Oh of course were not aloud to call it the O2 during the olympics

I’m having nothing to do with the massive waste of our money. I’m staying as far away as possible. Austria or Spain would be nice to escape to.

DoYouMeanMe?:

So have I, not a disaster but a strike or another G4S ■■■■-up or the transport system goes ■■■■ up.
Watching the news earlier, it mentioned the staff shortage and Mrs Muckaway said “let the mps and Lord Coe staff it; They wanted the olympics, not us.”

Well, we’re at Brands hatch this weekend (BSB and I’ll be there tomorrow night) and I can assure you, I’m getting out of there and a few miles up the road on Sunday night. Monday will be rather interesting IMO.

East londons been chaos so far this week can’t wait to see what it’s gonna be like when this kicks off properly Gridlocked I’m guessing and I have to use the a13 a12 a406 everyday I can hardly wait might just kill myself now

It al depends on what middle class actually MEANS in this day-and-age!

When I was young, having stacks of qualifications out of a university/grammar/college environment spoke volumes about where you came from, and where you’d be going.

In the 80’s, it was all about the size of one’s wad.

Nowdays? - I think it’s fair to assume that the bastion of middleclassness has to be those who still plug on voting Tory because they are allergic to red, don’t really support anti-euro policies, and are too ashamed to be seen standing up and being counted on the street…

Personally, I don’t consider myself to be “middle class” because I don’t have a lucrative job requiring a high level of education. I can’t call myself “working class” either, because I’ve never voted labour, and I don’t love working so much that I’d pay to do it.

So the question remains… Who ARE the northern city dwellers who vote Tory? Who ARE the home counties commuters who vote Labour? and why CAN’T UKIP win a single seat in the entire UK when we already know more than one person in five already admits to voting for them?

The electorate seem as mysterious as “cold dark matter” clearly. :unamused:

Yesterday’s inflation figure dropping sharply was put down to the poor weather of late. Yeh, well we’ve had lousy summers for years now, so as an alternative explanation I might suggest that more people are choosing to stay at home to duck and dive all the crap taking place out and about. Very little has been said about the G4S guards being “peanut paid monkeys”, because it brings ill-light upon the “middle class employer classes” clearly taking the ■■■■ when they want to get a very serious job done properly.

How much do WE think an Olympic guard should be paid? Less than a C+E driver? More? The same?
Whatever they get, the rate should take into account that the job is very temporary indeed, involves expensive living overheads in the southeast, and most importantly - needs to be done PROPERLY by an actual PROFESSIONAL, rather than some Newham-living friday wailer who’ll let all his mates in when they are the very type we should surely be keeping OUT. :imp: :smiling_imp:
I don’t think anyone is commuting daily from up north at least!

I suspect they are getting near minimum wage though, and represent huge ranks of “recruits” that are only there because they are being pushed off benefits.

You forgot to mention the children…

It now seems easier than ever before to get done for driving offences in London.

As professional drivers, we obviously don’t want this to happen.
As it’s already decided that the vast majority of us won’t be getting any kind of bonus relating to the olympic period, then perhaps a total BOYCOTT of dodgy road areas is in order?

I really don’t want to be looking at a fine because I’ve got a 17t drop to do in Southhampton Row, or fall foul of the constantly changing RBTS system that has some main roads banned without them being signposted BEFORE you’ve committed to turning up that street! :open_mouth:

Not been to bad but just been stuck round temple mills lane the light phasing makes no sense.

Christ the misery and general bitterness on this forum is overwhelming sometimes. I mean Muckaway, have you ever posted anything positive? All you ever do is moan and tell us how much you hate this that and the other. And some of you want it to be a big failure? What? What freaking planet do you live on? I feel sorry for you all living such joyless lives where all you seem interested in is counting the money you earn and moaning about everything.

Im really excited about the Olympics and can’t wait for my trip to the Olympic Park in just under three weeks. Its going to be brilliant to be there with my friends for the day while the worlds greatest event is in full swing in our own wonderful country. And in decades to come I can tell my nephew (who’s 1) and neice and maybe even their children that yes I went to the London Olympics and it was amazing and tell them first hand all about it. What will you lot do, tell your kids and grandkids you spent the whole time moaning and ■■■■■■■■ on a forum? Im sure that’ll make for a great story, good luck with that.

Everyone needs to just get over the fact there will be a bit of disruption for a short period of time and just enjoy this amazing event in our own beautiful country, because we’ll never see it again

Im now looking forward to a conspiracy theorist, of which there are many on this forum, to come along and trott out the tired lazy arguement that I’ve been brainwashed by the mainstream media.
