And my 2nd shift was UK Mail

Good thread Dave and without typing a long spiel about lifes happiness it appears your at a crossroads in life. Perhaps sit down and do 2 lists one for midwiffery and one for trucking listing the pros and cons then after that rip em both up and do what makes you happiest.

Try and look long term and imagine where you would like to be in 5 years. Bear in mind that the cab happy part doesnt last, then again maybe it does-im still cab happy after 20+ years.

I find flipping a coin helps me decide. When it’s in the air I find myself wanting it to land on one side more than the other.
Good luck in whatever you do, Dave.

ps how was Italy?

a question for any drivers who do 2 jobs,be it mid-wifery/lorry driving or whatever…it must be a nightmare when you do your manual entries between shifts…or do you just put the ‘break’ mode in?

Hi there

I do not ‘bother’ with manual entries as I have a full record of all my other job’s hours separately so if ever ‘questioned’ I can say exactly what.

when I do agency work on lorries I put my digi-tacho in at beginning of shift (whether I drive immediately or not) on ‘other work’, then take it out just before I head off home for day, that’s that, I then re-do this on next agency shift and in between if I work in my other job I have the separate enties (I have them electronically on my computer).

I have been off my main job now for 2 weeks so was able to do more driving hours

Hi ‘Dave’!!

yes the list I already know what it would be if I had to write it and the lorries would ‘win’ on the emotional side but loose on the financial and needs must, I have to pay my mortgage and debts/bills and help my son until he walks all by himself.

has I have been tramping in past I know my ‘cab-happy’ times would not cease, but whether I ever get to go back to driving full time will be in question for a long time to come…

the list idea is great, and have done this in my head thanks

I’ll flip a coin ‘just to see’ what it says…hang on, will do it now…

the coin just told me to stay in my current job full time

but perhaps the coin is right as I need to earn that money…

it may change its mind in a few months or years (hope not too many years)

in the meantime odd agency shift will be

Italy was ok, had the opportunity to rest a lot which I needed as I always work to the ‘max’, I drove down there by car, I would have much more enjoyed it by truck but the agency did not have an Italy run

drank lots of coffee but I do that at home too as I have a professional espresso machine, I am a ‘coffee freak’ :grimacing:
