And I thought the hard shoulder was for EMERGENCIES only

Suffolk ReeferBoy:
As he was a shopping trolley driver he was probley unaware of anything

Really :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :imp: :open_mouth:

I take it you are a trolley dolley bones , please accept my deepest apologies if I have offended you in any way with reference to shopping trolley/dolley being unaware etc etc etcā€¦ :unamused:

I am with scanny. His actions proves that they are still some knights of the road!

Robs point of view proves that the modern way is the worst! [zb]

A less nasty personal attack, but a personal attack nonetheless, so itā€™s gone. L.

theghostofcain:
Rob K, if youā€™ve got a problem with the actions of Scanny 77, why didnā€™t you reply on the other site instead of telling tales on this one?

[zb]
apparently admin also think itā€™s quiet acceptable for him to slag anyone even to the point of relaying something written on another site by someone he donā€™t get on with (if itā€™s possible not to get on with someone youā€™ve never met?) just to carry on some sort of kids squabble :unamused:

ā€œAdminā€ was in hospital under General Anaestheticā€¦I am now home and having to edit this appalling thread whilst trying not to puke.
Personal attacks removed from this post too.L.

the problem is no one really gives a tossā€¦in the olden days a shout on the cb would have done itā€¦but you would have thought that a few flasshes would have alerted the driver to some problemā€¦but they aint proper drivers are theyā€¦and by proper i mean bought up right ā€¦its a mental thing
i know blokes that have driven for donkeys years that still have the factory attitude iā€™m alright jackā€¦stuff you

jonboy:

there is also the fact that i dont know how tesco operate. would he have swapped trailers (and noticed the severed line)

if he didnā€™t notice it on his morning checks

jon

he reckons the line severed on cornering. fair enough, faults do happen out on the road and you dont always spot them regardless of how obvious they are to other drivers
i dont know all the answers to these faults but i do try to self help. i have had my nuts chewed for a kinked airline and that wasnt pleasant. the most recent problem i have come across was my trailer lights going dim. i pulled the leccy lines off and sprayed both ends of each with WD40 which worked

[zb]

It is Robs site, and mine and yours!

apparently admin also think itā€™s quiet acceptable for him to slag anyone even to the point of relaying something written on another site by someone he donā€™t get on with

I cant see him slagging anyone off, He is just giving his own misguided opinions.

Quote snipped. L.

admin are watching

pam

same old same old.

Let me just get one thing straight. I am all for helping out my fellow driverā€™s - and anyone else for that matter should they require help - but, as Chris noted and mentioned, there are far better ways to alert a driver that there is a problem than flashing away at them like billy-o front and back to the point where the offending driver is probably thinking heā€™s a got a live bomb attached to the back of his wagon or something. :open_mouth:

Pulling a driver up on the hard shoulder to inform him heā€™s got an indicator bulb out is [zb] :unamused: .

If the driver had forgotten to raise his/her tail lift after the seal had been checked and the rear lights were completely obscured then yes, fair enough, I can see the potential for disaster there and it needs rectifying immediately, but pulling a driver on to the hard shoulder just for an indicator bulb?? Nah sorry, thatā€™s just plain stupidity.

As far as the comments regarding Richie are concerned, I donā€™t see the post as being a personal attack whatsoever nor ā€œbullyingā€. I admire his dedication to the job but personally think a lot of his ideas are, shall we say, radical and ill-thought out but heā€™ll learn by his mistakes just like anyone else. Iā€™m sure he can manage to fight his own corner just like I have to do so I donā€™t see why he should receive special treatment  .

Regarding ā€œnickingā€ content from Barrieā€™s site, I donā€™t see what the problem is here. Both sites have made it clear that they are working alongside each other so I donā€™t see what harm it is to refer to posts on Truckersworld as long as credit is given to the source (which I have done) and the same should work vice-versa  .

Personal Attack removed. L.

for me this debate is closed so i am going to post my final statement now.

we all have our own opinions and that is fair enough although some do appear to be a little strong but some people can be misinterpreted quite easily as i am sure you have all witnessed within this site before.

i may be a new driver compared to some users here but my values are old skool ie i WILL alert fellow drivers to speed traps, hazards, faults or anything else that may cause them a problem. even in my car i will stop if i see a truck with its hazards on just to make sure the driver is ok. i have had a scare whilst driving with a muscle spasm and i knew ā– ā– ā– ā–  well that no one would have stopped to assist. it isnt nice to be in that situation. shame on any of you who would meet genuine courtesy with aggression. i feel sorry for people who find it difficult to accept friendly gestures as it says a lot about their past :frowning:

A number of points hereā€¦

First and foremost,
We work closely with Barrie at Truckersworld on a number of issues, and fully support his campaigns, HOWEVER one of the ways Barrie gains support is via his own interactive forums.

While I have no problem with similar subjects being discussed on both forums it is seen as ā€œBad Form!ā€ to copy directly content from one forum to another.
An ā€œInterestingā€ discussion was started on Barries forum and it should be his forum that gets the benefit of the traffic that continuing discussions bring.

The post by Rob that is at the start of this thread is not one solely about wether Scanny 77 was right to alert the Tesco driver in the way he did, It contained less than flattering innuendo about Scanny 77ā€™s atitude to this and other situations.

This is not acceptable, DEBATE THE ARGUEMENT, NOT THE MEMBER MAKING IT

Since then this thread has descended into discussion about Robā€™s opinion of Scanny 77 and not about the issue of how to alert a driver who could endanger themselves and other road users by malfunctioning lights.

This thread as I type is being edited by Lucy for ALL the personal attacks. any attempt to re-instate any discussion about the members rather than the issues will result in this thread being removed permanently

Take this as a yellow card

Simon

jonboy:
then again i did pull a trollie over the other day because his trailer brakes were nearly on fire

jon

 bloody typical, thanks for the laff JB!

   @simons pic

Since when was calling someone [zb] a personal attack??

Some with misguided opinions may think itā€™s a compliment!

If I am allowed an opinion its

Or is it Trucknet uk gone mad?

Itā€™s neitherā€¦itā€™s Rikki and Lucy drawing a line about what they find acceptable on their website. As it is their perogative to do.

The unfortunate thing about threads like this is that once you start having to take out personal attacks, you have to go straight down the line and be utterly scrupulous about treating everyone fairly - otherwise you guys soon cry foul! The downside to that is that sometimes things which would be innocuous in another context have to be removed to avoid further inflaming an already unacceptable thread. TCā€™s post has been edited for that reason.

As has already been said, if you have an issue with your own post having been edited, contact the relevant Admin - in this case ME - by PM. If you have other comments on the running of the site, that is what we have a Feedback Forum for.

Now letā€™s see if we can get what is left of this sorry excuse for a thread back on topic. It is already under Yellow Card, after all.

In a similar vein, some months ago I was following an artic down the M6 when I noticed that the offside rear marker was flapping violently in the wind. Iā€™m thinking, if THAT comes off and goes through someoneā€™s windscreen, matters could get messy.

I canā€™t remember the Company, curtain siders from Chesire, but the phone number was on the rear of the trailer so I phoned them. Kept losing the signal and it took three phone calls to pass the message. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

The Company were quick off the mark because within a couple of minutes I saw him pull into Hilton Park Services. What a pity I didnā€™t follow, because a few minutes later I discovered that my windscreen wipers werenā€™t working.

He could have helped me find the fuse.
