Crosswords including anagrams is a favourite pastime, prefer it to most of what’s on telly, anyway so far so good.

foxed me for a while, but I share the first name and spotted that, I have a book somewhere on the Foden family split, my dad was a fan of steam and Foden was oft a topic.

Sorry, not an anagram, but lorry name related.
I think it was Foden that had to change its name if they exported too, or you took it out, to either Turkey or the Middle East as it meant ■■■■ or something close to that…Any Foden experts who.can confirm or deny ?

As far as I understand , Fodens had to change the spelling to “PODEN” because the former was a word that referred to the female
anatomy in one of its (hopeful ) exporting sales country`s language .
I think it was one of the Middle East countries , but
maybe someone can provide more details on the subject.
I hope this is of help to you.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.

John
John…l remember seeing somewhere, sometime back, of a Foden with the F changed for a B to make it Boden for the above reason…
I’m reasonably sure that Foden had a name problem in Portugal.I think it was mentioned in ‘Truck’ magazine yonks ago.Something about a mysterious lack of attendance at their stand at some show or other.
John
Strange…I thought that Gerry was a Scania Man !!

Hiya…i’ve just looked on the ford transcon site.it said a chap called gerry wheelan had a problem getting into Jordan
with the badge on his transcon. it did say when he said the engine was ■■■■■■■ the box was fuller and so on they let him
travel into joran as the truck was not all ford. it seems there are two issues here one been the name ford,
the other Foden been a female body part in another country.
