An interesting week or two

I’m no stranger to the weird and wonderful but of late I’ve had quite a spell of unusual loads.

Started off a couple of weeks ago with this Daimler Ferret

Then last week I got sent to collect one of machines that had snapped the dipper arm

Earlier this week I had to ‘nip over to Luton’ to collect a K6 telephone box

Yesterday I joined up with the mechanised division of Dad’s Army

Sherman Tank

Daimler Armoured Car & Daimler Dingo

This morning I was back in my truck to collect and deliver this Scorpion

After this I got sent for a BMP1 APC but we decided that it would be dangerous to load as to get it central it would only be sitting on the inner 4" of the tracks. As the other driver has been off I’ve been cabhopping so I returned and collected the trailer so it could sit safely on the outriggers.

That looks like a great week!

Cracking pics on there mate  Love the Sherman 75mm

Are you stock piling and planning on taking over the world by any chance

It’s for this show.

Gutted I missed this land today, apparently there were marquees and small children getting blown all over the place

How dare you have an interesting week or 2, next you’ll be telling us you really enjoy your job :grimacing:

They do look like some intersting loads, I’m off to that show to meet up with a friend who own’s a Sherman today

Hope it was a good day and not too wet as I’m back there Monday and Tuesday collecting the smaller stuff, it’ll not be great if it’s dripping with mud.

On Thursday when I arrived with the Sherman there was an ex Brakes 18t full of beer up to it’s axles in the mud, the show organiser wanted them to pull it out with the Sherman. I suggested they get the real Army lads to drag it out with their new MAN but they decided they were going to use an old US army wrecker and D7 :unamused:

When I went back on Friday morning it was still in the same spot. I Think they’d moved it by Friday lunchtime although it was filled up with stuff so I couldn’t see.

Great pics

I kind of assumed the enthusiasts that have tanks would also keep a transporter of a similar vintage.

Good thing with military kit is there’s usually no shortage of winching and lashing points.

The show organisers will either give the owners petrol money to drive there themselves or will arrange transport ie us to bring their stuff in.

Yesterday was a good day out, plenty to see, and most importantly dry.
The ground was pretty cut up though, you will have to pick your routes carefully.
I reckon the Army lads with that 8x8 MAN could recover anything that gets stuck, or you could go old school as opposite my friends Sherman was a 6x6 Scammel Explorer.

ps it wasn’t my friends Sherman you delivered, they are friends with the Whitnell boys
