had my right middle finger amputated today. will i need to inform the dvla/ insurance company. doctor wasnt sure. said i would have needed to if i had had a limb amputated but unsure about a digit

Blimey sorry to hear that, may I ask where you stuck it that lead to this.

Others more knowledgeable will be along shortly but I don’t think it needs reporting. Bloke I used to work with only had 2 left on his right hand, rest where stumpy things and he was fine.

i know a guy that drives a 18tonner with an amputated left leg. And its not an automatic.

Jj its not my ability to drive im worried about its just making sure im legal.

and Dipper i rolled my car 18 moths ago and trapped my hand under the roof. the ensuing damage left my middle finger fused stuck up like i was constantly swearing. i kept getting it trapped in stuff and poking my kids in the eye and stuff so i elected to have it cut off

Lost my left leg below the knee (Yep limping agency driver!!!) it is no big deal informing the DVLA. They send you a form asking what you want to do and I just opted to keep all my licenses. Did not have to take a medical or any test. Even took my HGV medical 2 years ago, Doctor did not notice I had a prosthetic as far as I know, passed no problem.

I guess you’ll have to used the coffee bean shake to communicate your frustration to other road users, instead of giving them the bird.
