This is what happens when corporate and investor greed takes over. Governments have allowed multi national companies to shut down domestic production and move manufacture to far eastern countries. Historically they have allowed these corporate and financial giants to dictate to them rather than tell them: " if you want to sell your product in this country you will produce it here".

More like too much decent long haul work has been shifted to rail so the ‘drivers’ voted with their feet and licences.Suddenly they’ve found out that a transport system can/could/did work without rail in the equation, but it can’t work without trucks.
That and the fact that the developed western economies have turned themselves into import dependent basket cases.
So what do the government do.Let’s take more trucks off the road and put more freight on rail and make ourselves even more dependent on imports from ‘developing’ countries.That’ll fix it.
