Amber engine management light

the nodding donkey:
Ah, but how many…?

Reminds me of my time in F and P

Amber warning light is a delayed PG9, iirc.

commonrail:
There’s so much bogus crap on them nowadays,I’ve adopted a"drive it till it stops"approach.

Old school…

Smoke, loss of power, loud bang and flames.

You don’t need warning lights for any of those.

MikeDBristol:
Thanks. Not a DAF surprisingly, a Merc. Equally sh17

Surely … You can go into some menu and find out more info on what it’s referring to?

Twas not all that long ago the only point during the day you would go inside a menu was at Les Routiers.

Some faults, particularly on Mercs and that generation of Actros will only put the engine light on. Won’t even display a “Visit workshop” warning.
My favourite one is “Engine Faulty” with a little engine picture lol.

.

Is a constant amber warning light, permanently on, a “dangerous defect”

No.

Have a gander at this, if it’s not listed here as “I” or “D”, then you’re good to go (-ish)
