Amazon are part of the driver shortage

I’m currently sat waiting at amazon chesterfield, I arrived at 08:30 which was my booking time and there was no queue!! I then proceeded to a parking bay where I sat for just short of three hours, I’ve now been waiting to get tipped for just shy of three hours again to be told they’ve not started me yet!! and all this for six pallets no wonder there’s a driver shortage

Welcome to the world of being used for free warehousing space.

One of our lads was there 11 hours the other month with 4 pallets, was booked at 8am and had 3 other drops that day that didn’t get delivered till the next day.
Fortunately he’d loaded in Holland and the dutch company we were pulling for paid us demurrage.
We won’t take any Amazon drops on anymore.

Here’s another reason why driver shortage.
Went to a place in Chester today. Lockup unit not very big place.
As I got there an artic was reversing in.
So I parked on the road…walked over rang bell woman came out said got delivery 3 plts.
She said have wait to hes done. Fair enough.
I then poliety said it’s only 3 plts I can pump truck them off bring then on of you can sign for it.
She then swore like a trooper and went off at me god knows why.

Walked over spoke to artic driver he had full load of euro pallets.
Spoke to guy on flt he said no problem bring them in under the canopy.
Took one over the woman came out swearing her head off at me

Told her fella.on flt said it’s fine.

Not so much the time waiting just her language and attitude…if I ever go there again and she starts told work in refusing the delivery
She stormed off.
So sat in truck about half. hour later some guy looking official came over asked what had shown him.paperwork…he said no problems.
If you want bring it in yourself you can.
So I did this woman came storming.over swearing her head off at me.
Then at this other fella.
Never heard such foul language from a woman .
God.knows what her problem was.
But in end Almost 2 hours for 3plts.

You must have the patience of Jehovah
I’m willing to bet most drivers on here both male and female would have answered in kind and driven off, I’m pretty sure a number of them would have punched this foul mouthed slattern in the mush

Amazon is part of trucknet sponsor so you can’t say anything bad about them that’s illegal

Im paid by the hour … it take as long as it does I just ring the office keep them informed then Netflix it is

I don’t get paid to think which is what I’m told whenever I try help out

Amazon refused a load cause it was overloaded I told them I’d take a couple of items off so it would be safe for them they point blank said no and my company said no so had bring it back 3hr drive

Yep, I may not be a tramper but I have a small inflatable pillow I got for £12 - worth every penny. When I get home I don’t need to sleep that much and can get ■■■■ done throughout the day (not that I ever do but the possibility is there)

Honestly, the lady (slattern) coming up to me with that sort of attitude once would’ve been enough for me to drive away with the load.

Remember, the ball is in our court now so use that knowledge as much as possible because it won’t be forever.

You’ve not only let yourself down, but you’ve let the forum down, and you let the transport industry down.

foul mouthed slattern

Irish heritage in you BigDave? both phrases sound like some of the sayings my late mother or uncles would have come out with :sunglasses:

I’m assuming it’s the old Tesco barlborough site , was my regular night out stop , cheap meal + pudding ( custard was lovely ) , really nice showers & even a gym , only down side was you had to drop your tri

Patience of Jehovah was one of my Nan’s, no Irish connection other than Birkenhead
Slattern I got from the great Rod Liddel in one of his articles in the Spectator magazine I read in the dentist’s waiting room, apparently it’s an old English pejorative term that’s just so apt for some of the female charmers you find in places like Rhyl for example

Wonder how some of you people would have got on in days gone bye when you went to Liverpool London Southampton docks etc when you sometimes sat for DAYS not hours.
Liverpool docks when there was so many wagons on the dock road you had to ask which dock queue they where in.
London docks when you sat on the lorry park in lines, or Southampton 104 berth when it was lights or heavies on Monday Wednesday or Friday but rarely on the same day ,with railway Tuesday / Thursday no Saturday but everybody got tipped on Sunday.
Happy days
