AMAZING BREAKTHROUGH! (Whats the date?)

Synthetic diesel in the pipeline

As diesel prices at the pumps hover perilously close to E1 a litre, an Australian company has claimed that it can produce high quality diesel from plastic bags for less than 25 cent a litre.

The Australian based technology manufacturer, Ozmotech, is predicting up to 10 of its breakthrough ThermoFuel systems will be installed and commissioned in Britain and Ireland over the next 5-7 years.

The system uses a pyrolysis chamber, a patented catalytic converter and series of specially built condensers to produce energy rich diesel fuel from unsorted waste plastics, often using plastics that are unsuitable for other recycling purposes because of an undesirable or contaminated mix of polymers.

Working from an original Japanese design, Ozmotech has spent two years taking a brilliant but non-viable technology and turning it into a fully operational system capable of producing over 19,000 litres of diesel fuel per day for less than 25 cent per litre.

Tests have shown engines running on ThermoFuel diesel to be marginally more efficient, and the high lubricity of the fuel indicates a lessening of the wear and tear that hard working motors endure.

The company has recently concluded a deal with the Australian excise authorities that will see the product have a zero rating. A spokesman for the company is hoping the British and Irish governments will adopt a similar approach.

What really shows this up as an April fools joke is the fact that the Government agreed not to tax it
