Am l right?

I work ( usually) Monday - Friday.
This week I’ve worked Monday to Friday but next week I will work Monday - Friday on the truck and a cpc course from 7.30 until 1700 hrs on the Saturday .

Am I right in thinking i can’t work this Saturday as well?

I’m aware of the drivers hrs and rest periods and the way i understand it you must have at least one 45hrs rest period every two weeks.

Am I right?

it all depends on the week previous to what your asking. if you did mon to sat that week I would say no.

Depends on a lot of things, start time on Monday and finish time this Saturday being the obvious.

There are other considerations that give a ‘work around’ for working 2 Saturdays on the bounce…

Also, there’s a loophole that is something like ‘if you’ve got the choice of doing the dCPC on that day, it isn’t other work’ or something - someone can clarify that as I can’t remember the exact thing.

Personally, I’m a lazy ■■■■■■, so I’d say, no, you can’t work this Sat, but in reality, you most likely can :grimacing:

Are you paying for the course or is your employer?

Are you being paid while on the course ?

They also effect if it is “work” or not

You can work as long as you get 45 hrs off on one of the weeks, depends what you class as a days work tomorrow and start time monday

A days work tomorrow would be all day 0700 until about 1600.

I am paying for the course myself but on one of my previous courses ( that i also paid for) the trainer said it is still classed as work.

If i worked tomorrow and finished at say 1600 i would be back at work at 0630 Monday - no 45 hrs rest.

I would then work all week next week plus the Saturday on the course and be back at 0630 Monday - again no 45 hrs rest.

So I way i see it i can’t work this Saturday.

Maybe I’m wrong but that’s the way i read the rules

Do you WANT to work this Saturday?

If you do, then you can.

If you’re not being paid for the day and not under employers instructions, then it’s not work, so it’s not interupting your weekly rest

We get paid to take our courses so we start the course at 0600 on a Saturday morning to keep within the hours.
But if your paying for your own course and not getting paid then I cant see it counting towards your hours, as you are free to dispose of your time as you wish, you are not driving a HGV or being paid to work

No

Then, no, you can’t work Saturday because of doing the course next week… Happy?? :grimacing:

Just do the course and carry on :unamused: unless you are a vigilante type - you may also learn something that you have forgot

The question wasn’t about doing the course. I wouldn’t be paying for it if I didn’t want to do it! It was about working Saturday . That said I’m not working now

See no pay, no work, no hours, enjoy your dcpc

Just do the course and don’t worry about working time hours - just crack on and get it over with. Weekly rest is time to yourself and do as you want - if you want to do a course then that’s your choice, do it!
