Doing some freelance for a company. Yesterday they gave me 9 drops. The total mileage was 425 miles. I ran out of time an hour from base. Four of the drops were very rural. It also involved crossing at Dartford both ways.
I’m no slouch and I found all but one drop straight away.
If you had a 10 shift averaging 42mph in a Class three is pushing it. Easy up and down motorways.
So was that 700 ish kms then.
Yes you would struggle at 10 drops whatever sort of road.
If the 425 was kms, 10 drops including lots of off motorway in bulging at the seams SE England is a toss up whether you do it all or not, some days you could fly round, others it could take you 4 hours just to cross the river both ways.
Sounds like a good days work, I wouldn’t fancy that sort of mileage & 10 drops, when do you get a chance to take a break (or is that done whilst tipping ?)
We sometimes do 600-700 km in a day but will usually only have 1 or 2 drops. (Mostly full or half loads)
As long as you drove in the rules of the road, within the speed limited and safe … who cares if you didn’t complete, are you bothered
End of the day its your licence …no one elses… if the ppl you are working for don’t like it…tell them to take a hike
I think you are very slow, and you should have had at least 12 drops, and parked up for an hour or two before returning to the depot.
As has already been said, so long as you have driven to the rule book, had your breaks, then there is no issue, they may have been trying it on, but whether or not that is the case, doesnt matter, when they say Joe Bloggs has delivered a lot more, just tell them to let Joe Bloggs do it and to stick the job where the sun doesnt shine.
On day work I would have been much more concerned about getting back to base than doing the last drop.
Manyana.
Load, 6 drops, 658kms, rural north Scotland easy money, keep her smokin !!!
It was miles. Company weren’t any trouble. I had to night out and go back and load after 9 hours rest and do today’s works. It’s all money. I just don’t think the lad is doing it legally who normally does it. It might not even know until he gets caught. Thanks all

Miles!!!
Not surprised you didn’t get round, if the regular lads doing this all the time he must be bonkers.
I feel ■■■■■■ after doing 600k and 6 drops nevermind more k’s and 3 more drops!
3 drops and I’d need a lay down
don’t worry fella you do what you can and do it all by the book
I reckon you would have to have a perfect day to get that done. Oh and tip on break.
Average of 42.5 mph?!?! Out in the sticks??
No you aren’t slow. I reckon you did bloody well to do what you did!
Ten drops??
If you were 10 mins at each that’s knocking on for 2 hours on it’s own.
Lorry driving really isn’t like office work with deadlines. Or laying bricks. It’s pretty out of your control provided you don’t get lost or fall asleep in a layby. Get in lorry, do checks. You drive A to B then tip drive B to C. There’s not a lot more you can do. If someone were to say you were slow they mean you weren’t speeding or you weren’t jogging around the truck pulling the curtains and running to and from the goods in (joking).
Sorry should clarify I mean not like office work in its how fast you work on a project for deadlines. You got pretty much at fixed safe pace unless breaking the law
I’ve done six drops and 1153 kms in a day. But I don’t have to put up with ridiculously restrictive driving hours.

obviously a ■■■■■■■ white van driver that seems to think that driving at warp speed 90 is perfectly acceptable.

The fact he’s in Perth WA might have some think to do with it, not as congested as UK
No speed limiters in Australia? My old Scania142 had no limiter.80 mph no problemo.
