Just thought I would ask if I am now deemed a proper trucker?
The other night I swapped the cigarette lighter plug on my coolbox to a hella plug. Get me lol.
My own maintenance, no defect report!

Sorry, working on your own stuff doesn’t count.
You need to be changing bulbs/tyres etc before you are a proper trucker.
No defect report!!! How dare you disregard over the top British H&S and quite frankly unnessesery boxticking procedures!! As a British hgv steering wheel attendant you are forbidden to use your own brain and you should brought before a tribunal for attempting the outright dangerous task of swaping a 12v plug for a 24v one!! you have brought your company into disrepute and I have a good mind to report you for putting lives at risk!!
Ps: I just bought a coolbox with a hella plug

Changing bulbs aswell!! Dear lord I had no idea such cowboy operators still existed!
A long a the appropriate PPE was worn ,hat, vest ,gloves ,eardefenders, glasses ,boots, wheels chocked ,first aid kit with the first aider at hand ,and the fire extinguisher ,not forgetting a mobile incase emergency service are required…Obviously if climbing in to the cab ,then the appropriate harness is required to arrest any fall from that really high step

Proper truckers don’t use coolboxes. Milk goes on the step and anything else just gets warm. Proper truckers don’t worry about food poisoning as they just crap in a bag and crack on.
Did you get 5th wheel grease on you & spread it around the cab ?
If not, you need more practice as this is one of the main requirements to becoming a Proper Trucker, along with splashing Diesel all over yourself.

the way we are going in this industry,it would not surprise me in the least if this were to happen in the future, lol

Your only a proper trucker if you’ve got a frilly pelmet and bullfighting spear.
I thought doing a â– â– â– in a field made you a trucker?

No, doing one in a Tesco (other supermarket and grocery emporiums are available) carrier bag while doing 56mph on the cruise control makes you a proper trucker. Just make sure you have the handles at the front and rear and not the sides.
That’s sounds like words of experience. I’ll stick to my fields while I’m in the country lol

I’m nit a proper trucker, never done it in a bag, nor in a field. I was given those words of wisdom many years ago by a colleague who seemed to enjoy that sort of thing a little too much,

a sat nav is a must as you might end up getting lost without one
you will need 6 months experience of driving vans and be able to move up the more difficult 7.5 ton rigs
you must have plenty of experience of smashing into objects and hitting other trucks on loading bays

you will also need a mummy’s boy attitude, you will be required to snitch on fellow drivers, without hesitation.
