After a break of more than 2 years from driving (unless you count taxis !!!), I decided to have another go at the driving game. Part time only this time round; I only want about 30 hours per week. Signed up with an agency in Glasgow and so far it has been quite good. Done a few shifts with Bullet Express, Circle Express, Filshill (not so good), Damm environmental (hmmmm), Polypipe, Servisair (done my level D aviation security).
It hasn’t been long enough to get tired of it yet, but so far I am enjoying being back on the road again. I reckon if I keep it to 3 days per week I should get enough hours to keep the bank account healthy without getting totally ■■■■■■ off by working stupid hours. Here’s hoping, since I spent enough cash doing CPC and level D…
I had a bump with a poor guy from fillshill a few years ago when I started on 7.5t. Guy was unloading for the OneOone on London Road. He was alongside parked cars and straddling the white line to lane 3. Smashed his mirror casing to pieces . The guy was near to crying though… “Don’t worry” he said. Turns out I was the third person to take his mirror out that day. He then told me he was parking the lorry up and walking home as it was the worst job he had ever started. I was tempted to tell him to at least get it fully into a parking bay before he walked.

Did a run to Nottingham out of Spirit Aerosystems at Prestwick, then another run out of Prestwick that was supposed to go to Croydon but ended up at Milton Keynes for a load back to the yard at Bothwell. Quite a good number out of Prestwick, but Bothwell is too far for me to commute from the house.

Better off at Prestwick anyway. Its all distance work from there. Bothwell would normally involve local and multi drop.

Nice to know, thanks! Looks like I’m going to get some work at Glasgow Airport. That’s why I did my level D course, since it’s a bit less distance to commute. I used to do air freight when I was full time anyway, so familiar territory!
