Just wondering how many tests everyone who’s had re tests have had before those magical words. … I’m pleased …
Class Two -
Test one -Skimmed a kerb on a tight left hand turn… skimmed…didn’t mount the kerb or did the back end of the truck bounce off the kerb
Test two - Failed … Issue with air brakes…saw the air gauge drop, pulled over and examiner ended the test…
Test three - Passed
Class One -
Test one - Artic Failed by examiner for being in a time controlled bus lane…Clock in the cab read 10am but the examiner told me it was running 2 mins fast
Test two - W&D Failed the coupling exercise when ■■■■ up, new cable on drag, one of them dinosaur ratchet type trailer brakes… didn’t lock… went for the tug
and dragged the ■■■■■ across the rest centre…lol
Changed training company
Test thee - Artic - Failed… pulling out the test centre on to a main road, clear whilst undertaking the manoeuvre some knob cheese boy racer braking the speed limt was force to slow down…Oh well ■■■■ happens… plus the fact I seem to have a disagreement with the examiner at the end of the test… I went up a road with a 7.5t weight limit, even though we was in an unloaded artic he still argued the fact I shouldn’t had use that road, but my argument was then lets take this vehicle to a weight bridge to prove a point
Test Four - Artic 90 minutes on the road clean sheet no minors cost a bloody fortune considering that 2 tests in my view was mechanic issues and 2 others where just examiners being complete bellends and going by the book… not living in the real world
Your test that you failed on the 7.5t limit, where you argued you could drive your unladen arctic up it.
You do realise that the limits are for design gross max vehicle weights? The examiner was completely correct and driving a C+E up a 7.5t limit road would be a pretty big mistake to make in a test. Or afterwards.
car test…sailed through 1st time
hgv 1 test…sailed through 1st time
motorcycle test…failed twice passed 3rd time
There seems to be a lot of people over the threads that do Cat C then a week or 2 later do C+E and fail for silly things even some having 3 attempts at it only minors etc… Maybe there should be a cooling off period between C and C+E get some experience with weight and size most tend to get caught out on rroundabouts…
car test one: reversed round a corner and into a skip. think I deserved to fail that one.
car test 2: failed because I made some boy racer doing about 60 in a 30 zone slow down. that one I deserved to pass.
car test 3: changed from Loughborough to Hinckley. passed with a clean sheet.
bike test: passed first time. did not deserve it. it was raining, I was doing 40 in a 30 zone on the emergency stop and locked both wheels and skidded 30 yds to a stop. to my amazement he said I stopped it under control! can’t remember how many minors I got.
class 1 test 1: artic 4 over 4. failed on reverse.
class 1 test 2: artic 4 over 4. failed at the end of test. a wooden bearer on the back of the flatbed slid off on a left hand bend. traffic was swerving and skidding to a halt. no minors until that happened.
cat c: rigid 4 over 4. test 1: failed because I was so nervous sweat ran in my eyes and blinded me. I pulled away at the lights to the wrong green light. 3 minors, examiner had to take action.
cat c test 2, same truck. passed 5 minors.
cat d. 6 speed bus. passed first time, 3 minors.

Told to take the third exit off a round about, I followed the instructions to the letter… Hell I didn’t know the roads… committed before I realised it wasn’t the road I shouldn’t be heading down that road… Examiner never said anything till we got back to the test centre… hoping he didn’t see the sign…lol…Just had the falling out back at the test centre when he said used the phrase but if you was loaded…but I wasn’t so I was just being pedantic jst me trying to prove a point…maybe screwed up the roundabout bit coz my concentration had gone down the tubes due the knob cheese boy racer…
car test passed 1st time
class 2 test 1 failed due to hesitation overtaking a pushbike up a hill (slightly harsh imo but ok)
class 2 test 2 failed 2 mins from end of test!! pulled over at the side of the road waiting for an artic to come past me and i started to creep (and i do mean creep!) before he was completely past me. i sat in the car after that and gave it the 1000 yard stare for 5 minutes!
class 2 test 3 passed although i was nervous as hell drove like utter crap and my confidence was shot to pieces lol
that was this christmas just gone and im doing a bit at weekends to get some experience although im mainly driving 7.5 ton with the odd 12 ton thrown in
Car passed 1st time.
Motorcycle passed 1st time.
Class 2 passed 4th time.
Class 1 passed 1st time.
3 times Excellent. 1 time a complete bellend.
Car passed first time
Class 2 test one - truck jumped out of gear when i went to pull away on a slight hill, rolled back - failed
Class 2 test two - passed no minors!
Class 1 test one - failed - i didn’t tug on the uncouple!
Class 1 test two - passed 4 minors.
I had about a years experience of Class 2 before i went for Class 1 and i found it helped a fair bit, i felt a lot more relaxed and glad i had a gap rather than going for Class 1 straight after Class 2
In the order I passed:
2008 - Motorbike - passed first time with 4 minors (my examiner followed me in a car! HAHA!)
2010 - Car - Passed first time with 4 minors
2015 - Cat C - Passed first time with 4 minors as well!
next test C+E hope to do it sometime!
Other than that, I think 4 is a lucky number for me? lol
Car test passed first time 1 minor
Class 2 failed first time viewtopic.php?f=5&t=123689
Class 2 passed second attempt clean sheet
Class 1 hoping to do by July
Car (back in the 70’s) - passed on 3rd attempt
Motorbike (also in the 70’s when it was easy) - passed 1st time
This year Class C - failed 1st attempt - cocked up reversing at the start & knew I had failed - 6 minors otherwise
2nd attempt (the test from hell) - reversing a dream, rest of test a nightmare. 15 minors & 3 serious (nerves took over)
Now taking a break & driving 3.5 tonne van delivering bread around the Home Counties whilst saving my pennies for a 5 day residential course…
35 hour CPC course next week then at least I can drive 7.5 tonners
Car test, very nervous, passed 1st time but maxed out with 15 minors, one more and it would have been a fail.
Cat C test, 2001, passed on first attempt, 4 minors.
Cat CE test, only had 4 hours training after cat C felt unprepared and failed but in feb 2002 passed it on the 2nd attempt, failed the first due to poor observation on a roundabout, my fault.
Cat D, passed first time with 6 minors, one was for not thanking a motorist that let me round a parked car! But by this point I was already dropping off trainees for re tests as an instructor within the family company in 2003 so the examiner knew me quite well and was just pulling my leg as much as poss.
So if it hadn’t been for that poor observation at roundabout I could have done them all 1st attempt, my advice is take enough time to practice, there is no substitute.
Car - Past first time no faults back in 1998 with 16hrs in lessons
Got 6 points lost license (Was a naughty boy ) had to retake and past first time in 1999
Class 2 - Past first time 3 minors with three 4hr lessons and a 2hr before test
Class 1 - Past first time 2 minors with three 4hr lessons and a 2hr before test
Car test 1, fail, tried to drive the wrong way down a one way street,
Car test 2, pass, 6 minors,
Class 2 test 1, fail, “didn’t give a cyclist enough room” he had his cycle lane and I gave him 2 foot, we were doing 12mph at roadworks, examiner said he COULD of fell.
class 2 test 2, soon!
Car test
Passed 1st time with 2 minors
1 was he asked me how to check screen wash level
I was so nervous i pointed to the oil filler cap lol i was a mechanic at the time
Bike test
Passed 1st time with 1 minor

You think an empty artic weighs less than 7.5t ■■
Not that it matters as that’s not how they decide how heavy your truck is. As has already been said, they’ll go by your plated weight.
