Well, things was going to well, yesterday my boss in my not so current job pretty much laid the cards out as he knew I was saving for hgv license, I work for hertz rental and on a zero hour contract, and said that even though I have worked pretty much full time, I have had my hour dropped by a lot, not enough to keep my family afloat! Now this has left me in the air, but after sobbing for hours last night, looking at my daughter thinking what am I going to do, then thought, no, I’m not going to let this defeat me, so I get out my paper and pen and bank app, do a few workings out, to put all my wage aside and leave us skint, just barely to get us by, okay so that’s done I’ve got 6-700 aside, im a few hundred off, so I look at my xbox one and think, this is going to kill me, iv got it priced up and with all my accesories I will be garanteed £354 so, I take one look at my family and think… Didn’t take me long listening to my daughter running to me shouting dadda! My mind is made up, so that’s ready to be sold, my mum as always amazing has agreed to help me out with a few hundred if needed, so, I will have the funds at the end of the month, it’s probs going to be a very hard month or two to achieve my class 2 but there is a garenteed job waiting for me, it’s make of break for us atm and I guess I just have to man up and step up and I’m the breadwinner! I need this!
Good luck Mate, hope it all works out for you!
Good luck with it all pal, you can do it, new year new start.
Xbox one is replaceable once you achieve your goals
Good luck with it. Seems a good decision with a job waiting. Many of us have had to make sacrifices to reach our goals - I certainly have. And you’ll look back on it in a few years and laugh about it.
Pete
Thankyou guys. It’s a big goal to reach and I appreciate the support
All the best fella. But you’ll have to pull ya self together. Keep a positive attitude and pass your class C. Even if you fail keep at it. I almost lost hope after second fail but passed nxt time and now doesn’t really bother me, but at the time I was distraught.
And of course you got the gals/boys at trucknet to help.
Not easy but has been said xbox 1 can be replaced at some point but atm what would you rather have Cat C or xbox 1
A number of ears ago I had some tough decisions to make everything was fine was working then bang collapsed on sick for a number of years while they sorted everything out so from full time work on a decent wage to £95 per week to pay everything not easy but I did it then done my C went back to work then 4 years ago went back to work 10mth later collapsed again took 5 hr to stabilise me so back on sick this time all of £72 per week then passed my CE never looked back
So go for it make the cut back as much as you can then once you have passed & back working with money coming in you cen then start doing things
This year have a holiday booked 1st since 2004
Good luck matey, stick at it.
Im a few months away from embarking on my licences.
An inspiring read good luck with it mate.
I was in a similar situation, in a job that’s driving me crazy with very little pay, drop food shops down to £30 per week (not nice at all but is do-able), forget all the luxuries, sold the xbox, sold the iphones, but not too long after I had the funds, and my granny helped me with my CPC, passed 2 days before christmas, now all I need is the DVLA to send my bloody license back…it’ll all be worth it in the end
Thankyou everyone! Yea I do see it worth getting rid of my xbox, didn’t really play on it as much as I spent most my time with my daughter, but it’s not something I wanted to sell but if needs must and yea iv budgeted 30-40 a week, I’ll have to sign on for a month so we have some sort of Income for the mean time, but iv paid in my taxes so and I’m seeking a job so (to convince myself I’m very wary of feeling like I’m scrounging all I want to do is provide) as like most genuine people on jsa, nobody in there right mind wants to be on jsa, but I’ll give my everything to get class 2 passed!
u really can’t wait!
I have a couple of friends that took me out for a couple of days just to show me the basics…How to do a ratchet strap, How to get the curtain pole back in it’s tiny tiny whole, How to secure a load properly and so on…One of my friends has introduced me to the transport manager that he works for…Fingers crossed…
So put the word out, friends and family and facebook, see if you can take a ride…The knowledge is priceless…
Above all, have faith in yourself. You will get there…and your daughter will have a superb Christmas next year… I wish you all the luck in the world.
