All Breaks On

Coming up the road last night after tipping and reloading I got to a set of lights and stopped, went to pull away only to have the breaks pulling so I pull up and have a gander round to find the trailer breaks on :unamused:
So I do everything and the only way their coming off is by dropping air lines and hitting the shunt button.

Rings the boss and he calls DAF out hour later fitters scratching his head and has the same thought as me.
Drops air lines and runs it to the wk shops nice and dry with plenty of light going through everything till eventually we notice the floor mat had slipped under the footbreak with small gravel stones and as the break only need a slight touch it’s putting the breaks on.

Moral of the story. If your breaks are dragging check for stones and crap and the floor mat ain’t in the way

Ive had that happen with a pen lid  it’s good for checking brake lights though.

I’ve no seen the inside of a new shape daf but I’ve been told they’ve done away with that brake pedal in favour of a normal one.

My breaks don’t drag. If anything, they go too quickly.

That is a common problem with the old floor mounted brake pedal, didn’t anybody notice the brake lights where on ■■?.Also weren’t the unit brakes binding ■■? Also you would generally get a engine warning on the DIP panel as the ECU’s get confused as they see a brake signal and an acceleration signal at the same time ,and if an auto box you would probably get 3rd max ,again it won’t change up if it can’t get the speed and it also see the brake light signal

A very clever way of getting the correct spelling into a post five times…10 out of 10 for effort

Scania’s I drive do something similar, floormats usually get launched to the passenger footwell. Unless I have a passenger.

You Broke the Brake on your Break!

Try as I might to warm the brakes up on a DAF pre-test or after a steam clean, if I try to drive against the foot brake it just cuts the throttle. Only way to do it is to use the hand valve carefully.

As for the lights nope it must have been just at that point  but enough to drag the trailer

You are pretty sad if that is what you think :unamused: :unamused: So what other words should I have used â– â– ?

I think he’s making the point that the op has put break when he meant brake several times and you have managed to subtly correct him in his error whilst not actually pointing it out. :sunglasses:

I got that as well, I was sure he would OF as well :smiling_imp:
