Aldi electric coolbox

dcgpx:
For those who have one - can these be left on overnight ok without draining battery? I finish normally at around 4-5pm and don’t get back in till 6.30, would I be able to leave on. I’d switch off at weekend.

I used to keep mine on from Monday to Friday even with inverter some nights and it never caused me an issue.

Can it be plugged into the 24v socket.

It says ERF not RAF:

Only for a surprisingly short amount of time!

I imagine it might turn into a cooker if plugged into 24v.[emoji12]

If it can be plugged into the mains (comes with a 3-pin plug) why can’t it run off 24v.
The coolbox I have can be plugged into 12v and 24v.

Picked one up this morning, plenty large enough !

Only two niggles (already and it’s not even been in truck yet!)

1- no separators inside which is very minor niggle

2- On 12v according to manual it will run constantly at max. No regulation via temp setting. Says 47w so constantly drawing nearly 4A all the time.

Be dubious about leaving on all night , have to try it and see if truck starts up ok next morning. Wouldnt leave on over weekend though!

Just bought one myself this morning, and like previous poster says, 12v runs at max temp. I’ve got it running now at home on maims with a small bottle of water to see how it performs. Going on a picnic sunday with my daughters and taking it with me. Seems good value for £39.99

Popped in and picked one up.
I thought it would be rude not to test it out, so I also filled up my trolley with the nice selection of beers they had on the next Isle.

Currently sat beside me on the floor chilling away. Will report back tonight with how well it works.

You have nothing to lose with Aldi or Lidl for that matter.Just keep your receipt and any problem take it back. They refund without any hassle in my experience.

Snob!

I do laugh at the folk who shop at my local Aldi or Lidl and pack their shopping into their Waitrose bags.

Lidl’s thick cut marmalade is cracking, far better than all the premium brands!

And I use second hand Morrison’s bags Maoster!

Get a small 24volt 300w inverter plug the three pin plug in turn the switch to the eco mode run very quite. Will not run the batteries down i leave mine on all week. Had it six years now. The box is now held together with tape after dropped it out of the cab. The lid has the cooler in it.

Snobbery don’t come into it ,Aldi food is not inferior in any way compared to the so called premium brands, in our case a monthly saving of between 200 to 300 pounds is something you just cannot argue with.

Hi Robertthegreat
Went and got one of these cool boxes yesterday, plugged it in to what I thought was a 12v cigarette lighter and fuse blew almost straight away!
Is my truck running 24v DC or is there something else going on? How much are these inverters you mention? Ta

Totally forgot about an old Halfords inverter I had in dark recess of boot. Only an cheap 150w one but after your post I got it out of car as back at yard for dinner, ran for a few hours up to now no problems, invertors barely warm so on Eco mode going to leave on all weekend and keep box cool.

Told warehouse staff just in case though any probs Monday as they move truck for loading after parked up all weekend.

Had some serious piddle taking as ‘only on days why you want that for’ .

If I want home from home fridge I’m having one !

■■■■ thing keeps my can of coke and fruit nice and cold so I don’t care, with this and my kettle saves me a fortune in buying snacks I normally get.
