Correct me if I’m wrong would this be one of the famed “Snowcats” that Forth and Caledonian ran or is it a slightly different model ? Cheers Bewick.
You’re right Dennis, it’s an Albion Snowcat, the first ever lorry I remember going in with my Dad
Regards Iain
Aye Larry and Iain one of our drivers Duncan McMinn who came from Dumfries used to drive for the Caledonian and I recall him telling me that these Snowcats were freezing ■■■■■■■ cold in winter and ■■■■■■■ sweat boxes in summer, he didn’t have a good word to say about them ! Cheers Dennis.
Our LAD-cabbrd Clydesdale had 10-stud wheels. As we all know, my memory cell has more “off” days than “on” but I think the Clydesdales with 8-studders would have been the down rated model?

A couple more Albion’s, the first was one I helped restore when owned by Van Hee Transport, Gateshead originally owned by Moorhouse and Wainwright from Leeds in 1950. The LAD Hoveringham tipper was taken at Gaydon 2005, a nice little motor and restoration.
This is a model Albion Reiver I purchased a few years ago. Did E Stobart ever use Albions in their fleet, Its a good model and fits in well with my Smith of Maddiston etc models.
Nice model Matt, one of Kingdom Trucks I believe. I missed out on this one its a very good likeness of the LAD cab. Not sure if Stobart ran any they might have, I did read the book once on Eddie’s rise and it had pictures of the early days but can’t recall an Albion included. Franky.
You could be the proud owner of this 1/24 scale model of either the Watt or Forster Albion’s shown below, rather pricey at £265.00 but a fine replica of both vehicles although the Watts model has a different reg no to the restored one. Two very nice liveries. Franky.
At a show, Eastbourne early 1970s, my 1938 KL127 and two even older, the solid tyred is a 1926 model LC24, the other is a 1935 CL122. Just visible off to the left, the Sibley 127 loaded with coal ready for work on Monday.
