The co-pilot of an Ethiopian Airlines plane flying from Addis Ababa to Rome has hijacked the aircraft and landed in Geneva, Swiss police say.
The hijacker - who has been arrested - waited for the pilot to go to the toilet to lock himself in the cockpit. He was unarmed. He has requested asylum in Switzerland.

The biggest laugh is that last week CH voted to go it alone & break away from EU. The Swiss were alerted of the hi-jack @ 0400 & were asked to provide fighter planes to â â â â â â the airliner to CH. The Swiss Airforce replied.âWe donât start work until 0800!â So French fighters had to stack the plane until the Swiss pilots woke up. The airliner was nearly out of fuel when it touched down in Geneva. I wonder how Scotland is going to cope in October? It landed at 0600.
I thought the Swiss made the best clocks in the world.Did they not set their alarm clock.?
Maybe a stalling bluff to the pilot to make him give up his plans.

The Swiss never did join the EU.Itâs just that,so far,theyâve been daft enough to allow the EU to dictate terms and conditions for the Swiss to continue to have the privilege of importing EU goods and itâs taken them this long to realise it.

In your opinion,are pirates correct in their actions.

Thatâs always been the type of society thatâs existed in Africa.Itâs basically made up of different tribes all fighting amongst themselves and without the intelligence or motivation to make something of their own place.
There was a time when we tried to civilise the African countries but then got criticised for âcolonialâ rule as opposed to leaving them to look after and govern themselves etc etc.Itâs a bit ironic that people then try to justify the situation of them then deciding that they donât want to live in their own society but want to either rob or live in ours.Especially in the case of cherry picking the richest possible alternative like Switzerland instead of Greece or Italy for example.
Itâs obvious that the way to deal with the problem is to cut our links with the place rather than provide them with yet more opportunities to try to scrounge a living from anyone,who they perceive as being, richer and better off than the society which theyâve chosen to make for themselves.In this case Switzerland being the last place that anyone whoâs intent on such a scrounging attempt would be advised to choose let alone Greece.Being that Swiss might have a few bob but they ( rightly ) prefer to keep the money for their own.While Greece or Italy hasnât got any money but what they have got they also donât want to spend on scrounging African losers so they send them to the bleeding heart do gooder socialists here instead.Which is probably where this plane and/or all of itâs occupants would have ended up if it had enough fuel to get here or if the pilot had been bright enough to land in Italy and realise that while Britain is poorer than Swiss itâs a much more PC place and a lot happier to give away what it has got to immigrants than the Italians,Greeks,or Swiss are.

So weâve established that the Swiss Air Force work more civilised hours than their French and Italian counterparts with a lot less chance of getting involved in a war than their British counterparts.Which just leaves the question if thatâs what itâs like working for the military whatâs it like working for Swiss Air.I think I can see what the Ethiopian pilot was thinking when he decided which country to go for. Which just leaves the question of how many other requests for âasylumâ will be filed amongst the rest of the planeâs occupants when they realise which country the pilot chose to land in.
Itâs definitely not a country for asylum seekers,thatâs for sure!
