What should I expect to pay, hopefully it’s nothing more than a re-gas as the vehicle was stood for 16 months.
Also any contacts in the north west (Cheshire), mobile or premises based.
The only one i know of is in trafford park not far from ATS tyres go past them on your right to the end of the road then left again its in front of you
Take it to Kwik-Fit, £49.95
if done properly if the system fails the vacunm test then it is more than a re gas …no vehicle is filled properly from the factory ,car van truck…so hopefully it is just a regas
Google national aircon. Guy called martin, mobile service, knows his stuff, based in winsford
Sorted, DIY top up kit from Halfords for £53.75, system topped up, no vehicle down time, and running as cool as…
just a small point there should be a label under the grill that tells you the amount of gas the system takes ,if you put in more than the recommended amount w=it will have a bigger impact on your mpg

If he’s put too much in it wont work correctly

All vehicle air con systems lose gas over time, the pipes are porous, the ‘experts’ love to sit and vac out a system for an hour then charge it all up then invoice you £250, I have some gauges and buy the gas at £70 for 12.5 kg. Had the same bottle for 2 years now doing about 10 machines.
I agree all aircon lose gas overtime ,though a lot of the modern aircon mchines go through a system where it has to hold a vacumn for 20 mins other wise it won’t recharge the system…you would ten have to go in and do it manually …though with all the rules and regulations regarding aircon nowdays
First, remove one of the two caps off the pipes under the grille & you’ll see a car tyre type valve deep inside, insert a thin object & press then quickly remove to see it there is any gas pressure. If there is some gas in the system you can buy the Halfords DIY kit and you should be fully successfull.
If there isn’t any gas pressure I’d recomend taking it to a company that can vacuum the system, and if OK, re fill it with the correct ammount of R134a. It’s important to have the system ‘Vac’d’ if it’s been totally empty as the air contained has moisture in it which should be removed before re-filling with gas.
I bought a Halfords kit last year to fill my daughters car and it worked great & recently used it (with a new can of gas from Halfords) to do exactly as I described above to sort the air con in the FH12 I drive, again with 100% success.
Good luck, Ross.
