Watching the video I could imagine that would be a fatal most of the time. I wouldn’t of thought it would have been enough to put the truck off course either but just goes to show what can happen in a flash.
I would like to think the car driver is full of remorse.
But the Fiesta isn’t that good in a frontal impact according to Vehicle History.com.
‘In testing, they found that the dummy had a tendency to bounce its head on the instrument panel, barely coming into contact with the frontal airbag’. I’m hoping the dummy in this instance bounced his head really hard.
They’ve edited in an upbeat music track which plays quietly in the background. They do this on all the other Cops Chasing After Chavs TV shows on C5 and C4 etc. Making car chases exciting entertainment can’t be the way forward.
The article says that the Ford hit the police car when clearly the opposite was the case. That puts a slant on the story that casts the Fiesta driver in a worse position than was actuality the case.
I’m not casting judgment, or attributing any blame to the police driver, under the circumstances, but more commenting on the poor journalism we’ve all become accustomed to.
Suspended sentence and a two year ban, I reckon the idiot got off lightly.
Far too lightly, I’d bet it isn’t going to stop him from doing something similar again.
"Fortunately, the driver of the lorry escaped with minor injuries, " minor physical injuries maybe, can’t help wondering how he’ll feel the next time he see some other nutter bombing up the road behind him.

Yep, if he wants to kill himself, who gives a ■■■■.
It’s the people around him that are involved I feel more sorry for.
The 2 coppers who risked a potential fireball pulling the ■■■■ out of his car, and the shock sustained by everyone else.
Not to mention the lifelong trauma effect of maybe having to pull him out of his car in a mass of blood and guts.
In a coma?..
■■■■ him,.who cares.
We all do daft things as young lads,.I did some bloody stupid things at 19, but not in that league.
Star down under.:

Just sloppy journalism as usual, but having said that the guy was a complete tool and lucky to have survived with his life still in tact tbh.
Copper maybe should have eased off a bit sooner as you kind of knew what was gonna happen and at those speeds makes no sense being right up his arse when there was little room like that with a large vehicle taking up half the slip road, but adrenaline affects even well trained drivers in high speed chases.
I do wonder why the sudden dive at the last minute into the back of the truck, almost like he did it intentionally
This nutter loses it’s licence for two years. Does anyone think that’ll have any effect? I know I don’t. And he’s gunna laugh at his two years suspended sentence. When he does the same thing again and kills someone, the Magistrate/Judge ought to go in the nick with him… sharing a cell.
Watching the video I don’t know why, when the road was clear and 3 or 4 lanes wide before they got onto the exit road, the plod didn’t just give him a nudge on the rear quarter and spin him out. It seemed obvious he wasn’t going to stop in a hurry!
I reckon the driver was deliberately trying to create a more dangerous situation, in the hope that the police would call off the chase, on safety grounds.
It backfired when ambitions and abilities were confused.
