The S-400 engages targets at distances as far as 400 kilometers and heights of up to 27 kilometers (or higher with newer missiles). This is enough to cover at least 75 percent of Syrian territory, along with the airspaces of Lebanon, Cyprus, half of Israel and a vast part of Turkey.
the old Russians have a very advanced piece of kit in Syria right now. If any NATO aircraft goes near a Russian one, or acts in a way Russia deems aggressive… they’ll ‘defend’ … what if its an RAF plane. they run out of Akrotiri…

But I was thinking more along the lines that it’s NATO that is lying about it being all about going for IS as opposed to regime change in going for Russia’s ally Assad.Then obviously Cameron’s tame media lying about what Russia has ‘actually’ said would obviously be part of that.
On that note why would NATO want to shoot down an ‘allied’ Russian aircraft in that case even if it did over fly the Turkish border and why the need for NATO fighter cover and Russian fighter and SAM cover over Syria when IS and Assad’s opposition doesn’t have an airforce ?.While I’d certainly prefer to believe Putin’s accusations that it’s Turkey that’s buying dodgy oil from IS and helping IS than Assad and Russia.Bearing in mind that Russia is sitting on more oil of it’s own than IS is.
