Air Cargo Level D

looking at doing my level D as i may have a possible job riding on it.

However, having looked into it i’m unsure as to what exactly I need and whether level D is enough on it’s own.
My understanding is that level B is for drivers. Level D is required if you are actually going to be handling the cargo. Have I got that right? Therefore do you need to be doing both now?

Finally there seems to be a wide variation in prices/course length when making comparisons. Can anyone clear that one up, perhaps recommending someone. I live 15 miles from East Mids Airport.

Thanks very much if you can help!

I have level 4 aviation security , that was for moving stuff from plane to shed & shed to plane at heathrow , don’t know what level D is… any form of aside clearance is down to the company employing you to put you through , you first have to have a crb check and at least 5 years fully checkable work & character references before they will consider interviewing you for air side freight… it can also be a very boring job once you’ve gotten over the thrill of being along side a jumbo , also very strict rules air side !

I have the level D myself , i think it used to be called level 5 security , not 100% , but you need level D now to collect\deliver known freight , known freight is cargo that would be safe to be loaded on a passenger airline . You need it to go to any airport or known cargo forwarder , it is the minimum requirement , as I understand it .

Level D and Level 4 is the same
It was 1-2-3-4
Now A-B-C-D-
1 or A is the highest
Level D is OK to do Air Cargo, but its not an Airside Pass. You need to be accommodated if you go Airside.
If you will work inside the Airport (Delivering Food to Aircraft) you will get an airside BAA-Pass

We’ve all been put through the Level D as we carry air freight each night, and the course counted as 7 hours toward our DCPC. It is valid for 2 years so in 2013 I’ll be doing it again for another DCPC 7 hours.

I have it too. It does count towards your CPC.

I’d check the expiry on your Level 4 mate, my level D has expired and didn’t sit that till my Level 4 expired.

The course for Level D includes level A+B (morning part) and isn’t a pass or fail course, and is a complete money making scam, I’ve sat it 3 times now and the video is still the same as the 1st one I watched.

There’s nothing to know, as mentioned, 5 year checkable history (mine’s like the encyclopedia of everything and comes in pdf form for easy transportation and to save the rain forests), you’ll get told if it’s known freight or not, if you have known freight on, it must be corded / sealed at all times except when tipping / loading when you must be supervising and cord / seal before leaving to sign any paperwork etc.

All common sense and all ■■■■■■■■, if they want to get it in, there’s ways and means and there’s ■■■■ all you can do about it and the first you’d ever know is if questioned later.

I didn’t know there was JAUPT certified courses, but that’d make sense for anyone requiring dCPC hours.
Think the course was around £70 but don’t quote me on it, as I said, mine is now expired.
