Aintree Grand National

Who’s having a punt on the nation’s favourite horse-killing race?

I’ve got a tenner on Vintage Star so that one’s guaranteed to fall at the first fence. :stuck_out_tongue:

I certainly have my fair share of vices, weaknesses and failings, but I have never placed a bet on a horse, dog, sporting or any other event. No syndicates, no bandits/fruit machines - nothing. Tbh, I wouldnt recognise a betting slip even if I was slapped round the kisser with one. Its just something that`s never appealed to me, tho I have effortlessly found numerous other ingenious ways in which to squander my hard-earned!

I do, however, have a Weds & Sat punt on the lottery - and even then, its only in the last couple of years that ive been “in it to win it!”

Presently failing miserably. :frowning:

+1 never laid a bet in my life and I wouldn’t know how to.

I see the National is sponsored by an alchopop this year so that’s gone down hill from the Martell days

Couldn’t care less about the sponsors or anything else - my horse fell so I lost a fiver - takes almost an hour to earn that.

£17 I spent on a load of Nags’ £1 each way on 8 of them & £1 to win on the favourite.
I love it, it’s the only race I bet on & if I win, I usually treat Lady ‘V’ to a nosh up & a few ‘Shandys’
I’m happy if I break even, really happy if I’m in profit & drink away my sorrows if I loose (which is almost every year, lol)

Same as that, it’s only once a year, it’s better to watch when you have a bet on.

I went to watch Torquay v Scunthorpe on Saturday. The wife came also to watch only the second live game in her life. Prior to game we popped into bookies , she had a £1 bet on Scunny to win 1 - 0…have a guess what the score was , lucky or what

I worked there all week. Won £22.00. :sunglasses:
