I completely stopped doing all the “w***ker”!!! stuff about 10 years ago - someone cut me off and I was in a different truck and I’m banging the steering wheel trying to find the horn to beep them and I just thought “How stupid is this?”. Even if someone almost kills me I just don’t bother - maybe one small beep if I think they havn’t even seen what they’ve done so they remember it next time maybe.
Agree with the poster
I think some lorry drivers are definitely more aggressive, think some of this is work pressure but also the what time am I gonna finish today before the day has even started. On another note sorry but I don’t get the new breed of hoody up and ear plugs in ,
Generally not just HGV drivers ,all drivers seem more aggressive now .
Very rarely toot my horn or get angry just plod on at 50-52k an hour unless
I need to up it a little as the road conditions/congestion dictates.
Eg : tooted my horn at a youngish girl about 6-7 months ago on ring road in Bristol she basically came up the outside of me in road works in the narrow lane and cut in at the last minute, I was going to let her in but no indication or acknowledgement so I gave a little toot , within seconds 2 chavs in the car we’re out waving baseball bats around
2pm in broad daylight . They didnt say me thing or come towards me just giving it the big un, whether they would have used them or not if I got out I don’t know .
Would of fancied my chances 1 on 1 without the bats .
Not for me anymore this getting angry business I get paid to drive and deliver
Not stand and deliver Chill out as much as I can .
I got full beams and lots of horn-blasting the other night because my eco-roll kicked in, I lost 2mph before I realised and picked it back up, and matey boy sat 6 inches off my backdoor didn’t like it. Just an hour later one of those little Polish curtainsider vans with a sleeper pod came tearing down a sliproad to join the motorway, made it halfway up the side of my trailer and ran out of road. He wasn’t even level with me, yet alone in front. I couldn’t move over, and shouldn’t have to anyway, so he gave me the full beams like it’s all my fault. There’s a lot of adult children around these days. What damage comes from having such a state of mind like that? Another few years and it’ll be heart attack time.
I got ran off the road at a roundabout the other day (I was in my car) because a truck was stuck in the second lane trying to get to a motorway exit. He didn’t care - my lane was freely moving and he just ran out in front of me with me alongside and nowhere to go. Nearly hit me with the trailer.
Totally unnecessary.
I got tailgated in my car a couple of weeks ago by some absolute [zb] in a tipper.
There were cars in front of me doing 50 mph…I had nowhere to go if I had wanted to!
The [zb] even flashed and blasted his horn as I was going round a roundabout ffs
I got so ■■■■■■ with him I put my hazards on pulled in and opened the door beckoning him to stop. but he just [zb] ed off.
On reflection maybe just as well…as in my head I’m still the fit, fearless and aggressive 25 year old I used to be,. …In reality I aint any more. so I could have easily have came 2nd place if it had got to blows.
He probably had a f kng point you annoying t wot. You’ve always struck me as a bit of a dithery old woman
Its not only now, some have always done it especially me Lol.i dared to park my fridge at 0200 next to those sleeping like babies…i honked my very loud airhorns as I went past laybys with drivers also sleeping like babies…would often rant and rave at delivery or collection points if they took too long…if this has wound a few of you up…i am so sorry…i only wanted to cheer up and make someones day.

I,ve got to say that I ain’t as easily wound up as I used to be… maybe it’s age exoerience related thing, where you see things differently.
Ok I do have lapses from time to time as with the tipper driver in my car incident , but difference being is, when I was younger I was fearless and always up for it, whoever he was or however big he was…but now I’m weighing up the situation more thinking ‘Hang a minute. I could end up on me back here’. so it goes on my CBA list.
So I tend to try and raise above it nowadays if crap happens on the road.m shake my head, tut a bit and call him a ■■■■ under my breath.
