Agencys? play the game guys

we should have a page for the agencies that lie, non stop… they lies range from… loads of work… great rates… flexible start times… 200 class 1 drivers needed…

then we apply, fill out the forms, call a few times… to no avail, then a week later , they re advertise, you call them… and your details are “not on the system”…

a name and shame page, may help some guys, may clean things up a little, and may stop the lies.

I don’t think the internet is big enough to name them all.

It would be easier to name the good ones.

To be honest, I think they all lie, deceive, take the pee etc etc to a greater or lesser extent- just kinda goes with the territory. It’s a sorry state to be in though.

But, strangely, I’ve decided to quit my current full time job by the end of April, even if it means going back to agency work. At least I won’t be doing precisely the same every week.

I think you need some translation when dealing with agencies!!

“200 class 1 drivers needed…” This actual means, " We need work for our 200 drivers!!!"

“great rates” This actual means, “for the agencies”

“flexible start times” This actual means, “when we call you at 10pm to do a job asap we expect to to take it! , and not complain that you have been up all day!”

ones

You know one?

I dont stay all Day at Home on the Phone.
If im booked in for 17.00 then im out anywhere till 15.00 to 16.00 and can’t start from one Minute to another
On the other Hand we also need the Compamies who cancel your Shift at the last Minute.
Think a experianced Transport Office shall be able to do the planing.

Your quitting a full time job to go agency, are you mad

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. All agencies are run by salesmen who only give a ■■■■ about their own mortgage not yours. Anyone who chooses to make a career out of agency work only has themselves to blame in the bad times. I do, however, feel sorry for the lads who treat agencies as a stop gap if they have lost their job

Agencies are all the same they play a numers game register as many drivers as they can as for the driver well they dont give a monkeys about you

Been wondering that myself, don’t get me wrong, I’m doing my best to get a different job instead but I’ve set the deadline because Im so unhappy where I am that even agency b.s looks appealing :frowning:

And thats the problem there is no good full time jobs,im near hull so not far from you and on the sick for 4 more weeks so had time to look but there are only agenices and im getting fed up with them.

Never had a problem with work during bad times, quiet times etc with agencies. Then again, I didn’t make an arse of the job, bend the motors, wallop through diesel, turn up looking like an oily rag or be constantly on the phone to traffic asking stupid questions.

ill go first

i made the decision to go agency in early december, allthough i was dubious at the time,i`m now glad i made the change.the key to agency work is flexibility…if you want regular start times and a set wage, then do yourself a favour and stick with your permanent job

They all lie to some extent, but their some out their that take the biscuit … lie about job rates , job spec and even constantly pay you wrong thinking that all drivers are as thick as planks , … but i do believe you should be able to name and shame the agencys … especially ones that are contravening the AWR that has come in play recently.

Why work ya nutts of , and get treated like dirt by the agencys’ and their clients

they all constantly advertise jobs that they dont have on , to increase their driver pool in case a sudden influx of work comes in,

I wouldnt leave a full time job to pursue agency work as that would be financial suicide

I do think we should have a page to name and shame the bad ones but i leave that up to the MODS at trucknet to decide…

Personally ----- if i was really ticked off with an agency … i’d put up a review on google maps about what kinda lies and treatment u can expect from em (fairly based on my experiences’— as google will remove any review which doesnt follow their review guidelines policy). But everytime someone googles their address, that review will be also displayed for all to read !!!.. :sunglasses:

It might seem a bit mean spirited but it would also have a positive effect of highlighting how they operate and treat their agency drivers

If no driver registered with an agency, the the parasites would be out of work, seemples

some companies prefer to have a percentage of part time/temp workers…suits them-suits me.some people really don`t seem capable of grasping the way agencies work.
eg.one lad before xmas refused to bring empty cages back because the scrap cardboard stacked on them was falling off…never seen him again
another eg.another bloke wanted a merc instead of the daf he was allocated, when tm told him there were no mercs available,he started to argue the fact that he had just seen one pull in the yard…never seen him again

they pay…they say.end of

:imp: :imp: Agency lies that get on my ■■■■:- :imp: :imp:

(1) “We’re currently supplying drivers to recession-proof industries.”
Yet there’s still no work during “these quiet week”.

(2) “Great rates of pay at weekends”
actually turns out as “We’ve only got 4am monday-friday work until 2030.”
That’s 18 years time, and not half past eight tonight! :frowning:

(3) “Salary Sacrifice leaves you with more in your paypacket”
actually means “YOUR salary sacrifice leaves more of YOUR pay in MY paypacket!” :imp:

(4) “Yes, of course we do PAYE”
actually means “Our umbrella firm will keep back what you’d pay in tax so it LOOKS like you are on PAYE, and then you’ll get a big bill from HMRC at the end of the tax year, 'cos we spent it rather than give it to them each week!”

(5) “Yes of course you can submit meal and mileage expenses without receipts”
actually means “HMRC will be sending you a bill very soon, because you were entitled to none of it, but the umbrella looks bad charging £27 a pop for nothing at all on your payslip!” :open_mouth:

(6) “Can you do this £6.50ph one as a favour? - We’ve got no one else able to cover it!”
actually means “We’ve asked everyone else above you in pecking order, and they all said ‘No’!”

(7) “We’ve seriously got loads of shifts for next week that need covering - right upto £15ph stuff!”
actually means “My uncle got the single £15ph job and knock run to the airport and back, but we’ve still got 127 shiny £7.50ph shifts doing some multidrop handball in the city center!”

Grrrr!
 :imp: :frowning:

another eg.
my agency phoned at 2230 monday night…the lad on the other end of the phone sounded really ■■■■■■ off and said"i dont supose you can do me an 0400 in the morning". as i would have had the legal amount of daily rest by then i took the job on.wednesday dinner he phoned back giving me the pick of shifts for the rest of the week. as im not greedy saturday will do for me,however i am available if they need me.

give some-take some…that`s the way to do it
