hi guys im still working full time over 2 years in runcorn . but im moving to knaresborough in a. month . i was thinking instead of working all hours and weekends to do agency work or a decent firm to work for within 20 miles of knaresborough. DOES anyone know of good agencys in knaresborough area for class 2 work 4 days a week or 5 days a week . or a decent fiirm to work for . would really appreciate some good options thanx lads .
Hi Gothica, plenty class 2 wagons about in K’bro area but whether any vacancies or not I don’t know.
Chippendales egg producers just opened a new depot at Flaxby about a mile from K’bro.
Peacock Bros at Minskip 8W tippers mostly muck shift work about 4 miles away.
Usual builders / timber merchants in and around Harrogate and Ripon.
Harper haulage near Menwith tippers on quarry and muck work.
Whereabouts in Knaresborough you going ?
Jim
Paynes Dairies @ Boro’bridge
… depending how desperate you are … can you speak Polski
Not a great deal going about at the moment up here, but I would suggest as said above about trying paynes as you ll probably get a start there and then look around from there on. Good luck.

One of the better Agencies are Pertemps.
They’ll help you with tax relief for genuine food+mileage too, no matter
if you want to remain PAYE or wish to go Self Employed.

You’re not wrong … based @ Wetherby day runs … not sure I think they still do cardboard job, based on Sandbeck Ind Estate, so it might be on that job
… can’t remember what the factory is called these days … keeps changing it’s name
I see paynes are now advertising for drivers under the “senyap” transport name. Very cunning

Not sure if this is a VOSA “dodge” … or a TAX “dodge” … just Paynes backwards … hardly brain of Britain to work that out
I managed 3 years at Paynes (or Senyap!) before I got in at Nestlé. Its an excellent place for new starters as they’ll give anyone a chance. There’s some good runs but there’s also some horrendous ones too. Money isn’t too bad for the hours you work, but you can’t be frightened of hard work.

Yes, several Drivers have given a positive feedback for Pertemps,
particularly with regard to obtaining Tax relief for PAYE Drivers under
some system called MAP. Anyway, it is all above board and legit.
I suppose most Agencies are similar though - OK till they let you down !

Yes salaried, when I started on class 2 (6 years ago) it was 23k a year, so imagine its gone up since then. Most shifts are mon-sat, then mon-fri, typically working 0500 - 1400. although in the latter stages of my time there I was on what they call standby mon-sat. Basically meant I could be called anytime day or night mon-sat. Sounds horrendous but some weeks I would only work a couple of days, very rarely called up in the middle of the night, a typical day would be getting a call about 9am to do a run to Bradford and back. Don’t get me wrong the turnover of staff is high, but it seems to me the longer you’re there the better you are treated.
There’s also House of James at York you could try.
