Agency work without cpc

hi all are ther any new pass drivers here who have been offered work with agency without cpc as i have , can you driv without it or are sum companys dont care about cpc

If you passed your C or C+E catagories after Sept 2009 you must hold CPC by law to work.

If you passed your C or C+E test prior to Sept 2009 you can drive without it until 2014.

Whilst you’d hope the agencies would check, I doubt many of them do. Mine certainly have never asked.
The company i turned up to work for did ask though during the induction process.

so did thay turn u away if u didnt have any cpc

No. I passed my test in 2007 so the clock is currently only ticking for me

The agency should not have let you register as a commercial driver without the DCPC.

OOoooH your such a naughty boy.

Like many other employers and law enforcers, it seems that no effort is being made to check but after 09/09/2014 I reckon that will change because all commercial LGV drivers will need to carry a current DQC with them when driving LGV commercially after that date

New drivers cannot drive legally without it

I passed my c and c+e this year but have got till 2014 to do my cpc because I passed car test before 1997 I think it is.

I think you may find that the date of your car licence is irrelevant. The DCPC refers to commercial driving. If you have recently passed c or C&E the you should have it now to drive legally. That said I know there are drivers at my place doing cat C and cat C&E work that have no idea about DCPC let alone having attended any instruction.

If you had car licence before 1997 then you have until 2014 because of acquired c1 rights .

IIRC the car licens allowed a driver to drive a 7.5 tonner. If you are pulled in anything larger the VOSA or Police will nick you.

A pre 1997 car licence had a FREE LGV C1 given to the driver

For the purposes of DCPC, the LGV C1 on that licence counts as having grandfather rights for ALL LGV categories

DCPC refers to LGV and not to any specific LGV category

If you passed car test before 1997 it gave aquired rights to 7.5 tonner, so DCPC is valid on all catagories (including C+E) until 2014

You don’t recall correctly

Unite union do a Full DCPC course(35hrs) and ADR tanks and packages for £499 inclusive, as I recently found out, not sure how it matches up with other training providers but I reckon it looks like good value
