Agency recommendations

Can anyone recommend some decent (ha!) agencies in the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire area?

Long story short, for my 8 years of driving I’ve managed to avoid agencies. I left my last job a couple of weeks ago for something new, but I don’t like the new place and not sure what I want to go for next.

So I’ve surprised myself by considering signing up for some agency work, thinking I can try some different jobs to see what I like without committing myself to a permanent job, and maybe take advantage of the current rates with so many desperate for drivers at the moment.

I’m unable to…

Recommend any agencies in that area because I don’t live there.

IMHO, only work with agencies that offer proper PAYE. If they insist you form ltd companies or have to use their umbrella scheme, walk away.

Good luck.

Yeah I’m only going to consider ones that do PAYE.

After posting I realised it might’ve been helpful if I’d put ‘(Cambs/Beds)’ in the title. Any helpful mods care to oblige?? [emoji4]

Agency Recommendations right now must be:

"Chuck in your stable full time job, come and work for the headline-grabbing high hourly rates - only for those rates to drop down a month later, once you’ve burned your bridges from your old job… "

Still beating the same old drums every chance you get I see Winseer.

Keep up the good work!!

There’s loads of agencies advertising jobs on indeed. Avoid agencies that offer umbrella, even if they also offer paye. Good agencies don’t offer umbrella, as umbrella often involves paying disguised remuneration, eg. the agencies pay you with a “loan” and tell you unofficially that you won’t be asked to pay it back. hmrc will see that “loan” as disguised income and will come after the driver for back taxes, interest, and penalties. The umbrella companies are all based offshore, eg. in the Bahamas, so there’s no risk to them.
