I’m hoping to get this years PAYE back next January, only 3 figures but every little helps. Got back this morning, checked the ewes and two of them had lambed, one had a very nice ram lamb and the other ewe had a one of each. 2 ewes left to lamb and hopefully one of them will pop today
You can get the PAYE ending march 31st 2012 back as early as the end of march - you declare your final total earnings for the year to HMRC by phone. To get a payment January 2013, you’ll need to phone in the known total for the tax year at that time. If your farm is stood down (dunno if that’s what you call it when it’s not being worked, or used for income generation?!) Jan-March that’ll make it easier to come up with a year end figure that early. I declared mine early last year, as I knew up front I wouldn’t be working Jan-March, so my YTD total was done as and when I sent it in January, with payout cheque arriving in March. If I had worked, this cheque would have been reduced around 60% as I was paying top whack tax at that time.

9 Agencies all quiet, unless you have HiAb. I’m tempted to do a course or at least a refresher.
There’s plenty of HIAB work in Kent, but I imagine it’s left begging because it’s only paying £8.50ph out here, and not much more even inside the M25 zone.
Had a call from two agencies today “warning” me that they were overbooked with worked and that they didn’t have enough drivers for demands, so could I make myself available to them for the next two/three weeks respectively to do 6 shifts a week, if I get to pick what I do, days/nights, long distance/locals etc.
Also offered me £25 for every driver I could list that could do some work for them that completes more than 2 shifts.
