Is withholding pay statements against some law?
I’m (was) with an agency and umbrella until yesterday, the first 4 weeks I got pay statements through post, then they just stopped? And for last 4 weeks I haven’t received any!
The pay has gone in but I don’t know the breakdown of what they’ve paid without the statements.
So is it illegal for them not to issue me with one?
Ive been doing part time for one agency for about 4 years and they are usually ok. Then pay slips stopped but i was still getting paid. After about 6 weeks i said no more work until i get pay slips.
Got them within a couple of days.

The agency said ‘ok I’ll get onto it and speak to umbrella company’ that was 7-10 days ago! I thought it strange they should deal with paper statements!
So I’ve been speaking to umbrella and they say all they deal with is the actual pay and sending an email to me with wage and tax deduction. Which I can understand, so I said to agency ill ring u back today (wed) for an answer.
So I’m after some law ‘quote’ to throw at them if they play silly buggers.

Your paying the Umbrella company to handle your account THEY deal with the pay slips and have a legal obligation to supply te information your PAYING them to do …
your employer is legally obliged to provide a pay slip on or before the day of payment , however in this mixed up world we live in agencies may be under different rules . having said that the (only) agency I have worked for posted mine to me without fail ,whilst my present employer (zero hrs ) hands them out every 4-6 weeks ■■ I assume the greedy git (he really is !!) saves a few pence this way.
Whether or not you’re legally entitled to a payslip will depend on your employment status with the agency or umbrella company, if you’re employed by them they are legally obliged to give you a payslip, if you’re self employed and paying the umbrella company it’s a different ballgame.
