Agency pay / sheets

When I registered with agency he said I was guaranteed 8 hrs and he was going to pay me class one pay £12.50 p.h ) even though class 2 lorry , I said what about time sheets , company has them
So this is what company issued me with , 7 am start is correct & finish time is correct at 13.00 , but he’s deducted 45 mins for a break we didn’t have , and it says 5 hrs 15 mins day
So what will agency do , pay minimum 8 hrs ( I hope so ) , or 5 hrs 15 ( the ■■■■ will hit fan ) ?

Did you get dressed yourself this morning, or did you need help?

Ring the agency you’re signed up with FFS!

■■■■ it up for the 8 hours pay…jobs a good un. dump the truck somewhere if they dont pay ya full rate.

As said phone the agency and check they’re paying 8 hours, if not don’t work for them again.

Every agency I’ve worked for has paid a minimum of 8 hours.

Wife puts my clothes out previous night , then puts on my socks & ties my shoe laces , it’s costs to ring agency whilst I can get advice ( rude sometimes ) on here for free

If it’s minimum 8 hours paid - then there shouldn’t even be a meal relief docked out of that.

Working 9 hours, docked 1 hour, paid 8 hours - is the usual way one gets planned.

For the sake of argument agencies pay 8hrs minimum, also for the sake of argument take you breaks, because if you land back in the yard before 8hrs is done they’re gonna want their pound of flesh, or make you sit around till 8hr 45mins has elapsed, as they’re paying the agency for every minute of that time and will treat you accordingly.

Play the “game” … don’t get cocky, understand that as agency you’ll be treated like dirt, and you’ll figure out how to play the game and have a decent craic

Or get back to the yard before 8 hours go home and tell them to only pay you for the hours you’ve worked. While reminding them that you’re a driver not a warehouse operative or a labourer etc etc as you walk out the door.IE the minimum 8 hours etc bs is a double edged sword which can often work against you. While trying to turn a 6 hour driving job into an 8 hour driver/warehouse worker etc one to get a few extra quid just zb’s the job up for everyone else.Bearing in mind that the ‘pound of flesh’ merchants won’t settle for anyone parking up to hang the job out. :bulb:

Yeh, that’s pretty much what I am seeing.
There’s no point “carving the job up” - because the firm won’t let you off early, and if you’re beyond “Happy Hour” already, - then you are just docking your own pay by “rushing back”…

“Happy Hour” - That hour from 8 to 9 where you are effectively working for free.

If you go home @ 8 hours - you get paid 8 hours. If you go home @ 9 hours, you get an hour docked for break and get paid 8 hours. Thus, hour 8-9 is UNPAID everywhere you go, assuming Peirre’s argument here.

Did another 6.45 - 12.30 -45 mon , 5 hrs , so rang agency and asked what was min hours paid , evasive & wouldn’t answer , so Told him I’ll do tomorrow but that’s it , £60 per day is a joke , so he’s put me on night trunking .
Hope I get a full time at curry’s or somewhere as this agency pay is a joke
tomorrow I’ve 2 drops in Peterborough from Grantham so more like 4 hrs Than 5 :unamused:

The trick was to arrive back around 7 and a 1/4 hours, and by the time you’ve fuelled up and done the paperwork you’ll be nudging 8hrs. But 8hrs isn’t going to make you over £100 (gross), and by the time you’ve considered cost of fuel for your car, cost of your lunch, tax and NI there’s not going to be much profit turning out for a shift. This is what killed the agency work at Tesco’s years ago when they’d only guarantee 6hrs, which meant that it wasn’t worth going.

For me my target is a 9-10hr day, and a minimum £100 earned per shift, though my current assignment is averaging 10-13hrs a day

6 hrs on tesco ,last time I was at Goole it was x2 double deckers to bury & a single down to horncastle and get back as far as I could to Goole
Getting back on subject I’d rather do 1x15 hr day than 3x 5 hr days , to have to do 3 days for £180 is ■■■■ , sound ok 12.50 p.h for driving a rigid , well I thought it did , but now I understand why he was so desperate for me to go there & then offer a job on arrival back in office after 1 st day , can’t get company driver , nor agency , he was very evasive on guaranteed hours so I guess the answer is get paid What you do , but how does he think that policy is going to get drivers going there , or sticking it when they find out score .
Oh well I hope I get company job , but until that I now no to get guaranteed hours & not just hourly rate .
Credit Pierre for doing long term agency , but not for me
Nb lot of blame must go on Mrs as she said I had to go out to work , I was quite happy down pub & sleeping on sette in afternoon !

Go with the agencies offering both a higher “minimum paid hourage” such as 8 or 10, AND a Right-through rate, so you don’t get called in late on a sunday night, thus losing your sunday - only to get an hour at top rate, followed by the diddly rate for monday early doors, not worth getting out of bed for as far as I’m concerned…

Well today I get back & boss of firm says I hear you are moving onto other work , yes mate this job just doesn’t pay , though 5 hrs is lovely for time at home , the 5 hrs , £60 for it just isn’t enough , 5 hrs ! We’re obligated to pay you 8 , 8 !! , agency bloke was very evasive when I asked him about guaranteed hours , no we pay 8 , we do struggle for drivers though as they want more hours than 8
So not as bad as I though ,
Don’t know how they make job pay , lorry stood for 19 hrs a day
