Agency fraud

How would they be able to take back any overpayment if they didn’t have the 3 digits on the back of the card?

So if you wanna sign up with us you have to give us access to your bank account… Why? Umm, in case we overpay you. But we promise not to buy anything online with it or anything like that, oh an we’ll keep your card details secure in my office drawer at all times.

Name & shame these characters.

East Midlands?

This is dodgy beyond belief. All kinds of issues here - data protection, unauthorized use of card etc.

Sounds like an April Fools to be honest, but considering it’s November I assume not…

Not a early April fool.

I’d be interested to know what your bank would say if you phoned them up and explained. Just get their general advice - which I would expect to be a huge NOOOO !!! There must be several Nigerian princes looking into this by now.

Banks often get out of compensating account holders.
All they have to do is ask “Did you give the fraudster your full card details?”

The moment you admit you DID - then that’s IT. NO refunds.

Don’t fall for it then!!

The agency will then have these on record, digital (?) then easily hacked by those who know how.
Photo copies (?) then easily taken by someone who is less than honest Etc Etc.

Why would you even consider it ?

How hard is it to get a refund out of Paypal whilst we’re at it?

Dunno what people are paying for here, as it seems to be a very easy way to lose money, but bloody difficult to get it back if there’s so much as a ■■■■-up…

ive had paypal for 20 years or so and have found them bulletproof to deal with.
ive had deposits for vans returned, and a couple of refunds for dodgy goods and purchases through ebay and also privately.
if you have a claim then you just send the story and someone will decide who is right and refund accordingly.
the main thing to do is when you call paypal your call will be directed to then north east uk geordies,or next in line is dublin…if they are busy your call will be answered by some ladyboy in the phillipines or somewhere similar.
at this point, just hang up the phone and redial otherwise you will just waste your time completely as they are from a different planet and will not comprehend your problem whereas the uk/paddys are quite switched on as to your problem.
as soon as they dont sound like geordies,or paddys just hang up and redial.
if you send money as a gift, then you can lose it,if you buy a vehicle and its fraud, then you lose it,whereas you can claim back the deposit.
ive transacted funds from as far away as new zealand, sweden and most of europe and security wise, then for me ive found it to be bulletproof.

Does this sort of thing happen often ?

I’ve got to the point, where if a seller doesn’t accept paypal, I will look elsewhere.
I’m also regularly applying for a new card, to avoid the ‘auto renew’ scam, and to avoid unscrupulous employees from using my details.

Yeh! ^^^ What he said!
