Why do some lorry drivers act like children? Probably something to do with a low IQ!
if this forum is so infantile why are you here after all you learn a lot about a man by the company he keeps and you seem happy enough here in the kindergarten
IF…IF…IF ■■? Come on this is meant to be a professional forum is it not? Yes there are some interesting threads but the vast majority are pointless and usually pretty pathetic childish nonsense.
I mean some cannot even string a proper sentence and we will not mention spelling.
I am semi retired now and occasionally look on here to see IF there is anything interesting or if there is a decent discussion.Problem is some are not capable of a proper discussion. They just resort to abuse and name calling.
Ah so the scaffold pole was an exaggeration. I see. Well maybe if you didn’t pull people up on every little detail people wouldn’t do it to you eh? What goes around comes around maybe.
And to be honest I did find the whole episode a bit childish, but that’s just me. And thanks to Juddian for a lesson on how to use internal straps. Don’t know how I’d managed all these years
Must admit it annoys me when I get a loaded tri that’s not strapped at all, just idleness,I wouldn’t bother reporting it I’d just strap it up,but it does wind me up.
I’m with Rob, again, I do them up like that all the time, with the the hope some one will complain and they won’t put me on curtainsiders again. As the man said get sixteen stone hanging on them they are going to be tight. I tend to be heavy handed any way.
Having to load a wagon for one of our GomLord bottomlickers I put a tag on every strap each side of the curtains, and because I was bored the internal straps then ended up more like a game of kerplunk when I had finished eack got a cable tie so I didnt run out of tags,
Ive not been asked since to load up for anyone else
Regardless of what you think of Rob K I find his posts well worth reading. Ok he’s sometimes over the top but very articulate in his words - a credit really when there are some on here who slate him with bad grammar etc.
personal opinion (although no one as asked ) he’s arrogant but good
I may be from an older generation but I can’t perceive any reality where I would let an agency driver secure one of my loads. Company policy or not as the load is my responsibility I would want to do it myself + get an extra hours pay for doing it.
That said its quite amusing that Rob has done the straps up as tight as possible
@albion: As you where the first person to make childish comments and playground abusive digs on this thread which by its very title is a bit tongue in cheek and dare I say not really a serious thread you may need to relax and refrain from following posters on this forum round just to have a dig at them.
Obviously you have an agenda and perhaps using the PM function might resolve any issues, at the end of the day lets all be friends-lifes to short.
This is ironic coming from me but I do think he tries a little too hard sometimes and spends too much time playing to the gallery. He is no doubt an intelligent chap but I think he plays devils advocate a little too often.

Never succeeded in getting internal straps that tight, way too much give on them things to get much tension. And if they are a little tight just pop the supports out and the roof drops a bit. Think Rob might be over egging the pudding a little on this one.
What roof supports? Trailer doesn’t have any.
Fair enough but my point that internal straps have way too much give in them to get them that tight still stands though. You can get them tightish but so tight you need a scaffold pole? No sorry don’t buy it.
OMG you can be so serious sometimes. Obviously scaffy pole was just a slight exaggeration but most folks would have got the drift. Trust me, swinging 16 stone on the end of the strap and then pushing the clip home will not please you when you come to undo them, especially when the clips were nearly 8 ft up in the air so the usual craic of grabbing the end of the strap and ragging it towards you to undo the clip won’t work.
Anyway, don’t see what the problem is. Obviously he has doubts over his own driving abilities if he needs every load strapping , and that’s exactly what I did for him, making them extra tight just for added peace of mind . Just can’t please some folk.
Your a day dreamer,If you put half as much in to your work as you do writing crap on here, everyone would want to employ you, but until then stick to agency.

You just come on here to have a break from breaking the crystallised adblue of your engine block.

Mate I weigh 20 stone, and I’ve never got them that tight, we’re it takes me more than a minute to undo both sides.

Given that the trailer is loaded at point A by the agency driver and delivered to company driver at point B then you really do not get a say in the matter unless you insist on opening the trailer and fully re strapping it yourself.
I would also question your attitude towards agency drivers, why do company drivers think that they are somehow a cut above all agency drivers when in actual fact I’ve not yet found a company driver that could hold a light to the drivers I work alongside and they are all freelance professional drivers, yes, sometimes agency and sometimes direct for the client. I would love to get some of the ■■■■■■■■■ on here who constantly ■■■■■ about agency drivers and invite them to a day where they could pitch their mouths and their abilities against me or the drivers I work with, that would be well worth paying to see.
A lot of you ask why agency drivers cant get full time jobs, well I’ll answer that one right now, it is because they don’t want the full time jobs. They know what companies are paying and basically find full time employment rates of pay an insult to their efforts as the full timers should but hey, they are just grateful to have a job.
There are far to many critics of agency drivers in my opinion and most of those critics couldn’t reverse a Tonka truck let alone an artic.

just sightly, too much time to little work make Robert a story teller with not much cash in his sky rocket

I think to be honest, the OP is stating that he would not want anyone strapping his load as it is his responsibility, not an actual dig at Agency drivers, if the thread had been about another full time driver I am sure he would have said, I wouldn’t let another driver strap my load. But heh I might be wrong.
