Agency and "Accumulated Fund"?

Where I work if we have an accident . We’re responsible for the 1st £250 .
Seems to be a thing at places that’s crept in over past few years

Next thing…

Will be £20 a week from your wages into the diesel tank. I mean it’s the driver that burns the fuel off in the first place right?

Damage to equipment from a company POV is frustrating, an unwanted expense and usually avoidable. Having said that it’s the price of doing business and so should be factored into the rates a company charges. If a company is sustaining a lot of damage then it needs to take a long hard look at itself and ask why it’s attracting the type of drivers who regularly cause avoidable damage. At the very least the companies insurers should be looking for patterns in the damage.

“Six points OK” on job adverts - is probably the start and end of that. :unamused:

^^^ can’t disagree with that. Reap what you sow

Not only do you need to get a new job with immediate effect Chief, you also need to let the good folk on here know which sack of cack firm this is.

I note from previous posts that you are close to Beaversville (aka Warrington). The only firm that I know around here that tries it on is that pinnacle of transport Mark Thompsonski.

More likely a surcharge for running the night heater when it’s freezing outside…

Also if they’ve already got your money they’ll simply pay any Fixed Penalty without giving you any opportunity to challenge said ticket.

Absolutely.
If it ain’t their money, why wouldn’t they cough up without argument?

And to take it further…

If some drivers know “their” fine will come out of the pot, won`t they be less careful than otherwise, when they, themselves, have to pay?

Company has no incentive to do anything to avoid fines as it costs them nowt. No paying fines, and no admin involved. Winner for them.
Drivers (some) have no incentive to avoid fines.
Just gets worsenworse for the decent ones, as it goes on.

Come on then Conor - then with the perfect agency for 25 years. Spill the beans on the ones you’d recommend… [emoji106]

Well the ones I’ve had no problem with in Hull at least

Location obviously matters.Obviously also no parking fines to worry about doing class 1 ‘trunking’ work.
Which the OP is being sold.

Had this sort of thing a few years ago it was being called Drivers negligence, the agency i was working with at the time were adimenrt that this was 100% legit of course it was not and i refused , as has been mentioned its not the driver that has to underwrite a companies insurance. saying that i do belive that "drivers negligence " is a Thing but does not apply to fulltime or agency drivers but is more of an owner operator thing…i stand to be corrected if wrong

Driver Negligence Insurance is insurance to cover for the excess on a policy.
For example, if the insurance excess is set at £5000 at a haulage company, then the agency may be required to take on Driver Negligence Insurance before providing drivers. This will cover any damage below the excess amount.
Ironically, there is still usually an excess on the Driver Negligence Insurance (about £250) & it is this the agencies seem to be trying to pass on to the drivers.

Hows abouts

Six points on licence NOT ok
Premium pay to zero points on licence staff
Monthly bonus for preventing serious outlays by being zealous enough on vechicle checks to capture seriousl liabilities - before they become serious outlays…

(Eg. Taking a vehicle off the road, before Plod pulls you up, and issues a PG9 for it…)

Driver might get fined and sacked, but FIRM stands to lose their O licence AND gets fined…

I did get a phonecall from one of the senior managers this year when, having driven half a day solo to collect a mobile storage tank. I refused to hitch up as it still had product in it, making the tyres bulge.
These things can only be transported empty. He thanked me for my professionalism and saving the company what most likely would have become a major incident on the M1.
I drove back solo with a night out to boot!
