Well like you all said keep on trying, got work On Friday night and I’ve got more work tonight, had a run from Warrington to deeside done a trailer swap then back to Warrington, swapped trailers there then headed to The TPN hub in Minworth, couldn’t of asked for a better first run to be honest
and there you have it…you are now an experienced class 1 driver.
Haha the learning will never end mate, enjoyed it though Friday night felt good being behind the wheel, was abit nervous for the first ten minutes but then was fine, also found GOAL ( go out and look) very useful, kept that in my head and makesure I did just get out check my surroundings and what room I had before reversing! I’m driving for hermes tonight out of Warrington, they use DAFs don’t they?

this is true…i just find it interesting to read how your fortunes have changed in under a week.
on monday, you felt you would never get a chance…but now…less than a week later, youre on your way. you are building a relationship with your agency, who will use you more and more, then before you know it you
ll have the magic 2 years under your belt.
stories like this will give encouragement to all the newbies who are struggling to get a start
I think it’s the first few agencies that knocked me back for age and experience reasons dampened my spirits, but this agency I registered with Friday, I literally got out the door into my car and got a phone call off them offering me work, looking forward to where tonight takes me now

Driver Hire give you quite a thorough Driving aptitude written test. It just checks whether you know your driver’s hours / regs, loading methods, Highway Code etc
Actually that driver aptitude test is a total joke, see if anyone can spot the mistake.
Fill out a manual tachograph for the following.
“You are taking a class one tractor unit from Lancaster, registration LD08FGH. The date is 12.12.08. You start at 1000, 66,500 km and finish at 67,002 km at 2000. You finish at Lancaster.”
Major mistake in this statement. I cant remember the specifics, but they are pretty close.
I answered the question, I wouldn’t take this vehicle out on the road.
Can anyone else work out why?!?
Agencies are all horrible horrible nasty pieces of work, but to get a start at driving you have few other options.
08 wouldnt have an analog tach in for a start
Spot on! Lol…
