Do you think agencies will rise or fall after the introduction of the DCPC in September 2014?
personally i think they will fall because a lot of them [the smaller ones] will not put their drivers through it so if the drivers do not have it by september[if they cannot afford it] then they will not be able to work,as i said in my other post on the dcpc unless i can find someone to pay for it before september [if i get a full time job]then i will be reverting back to being white van man as a self employed same day driver, could possibly earn much better money, just have to wait and see
I dont think it will affect them.its on the driver to get it,so if you wanna work your going to get it.the romacs will proberly get it paid by the goverment and all the ex forces guys are getting it.so i dont think theres going to be less drivers able to drive
The agencies will continue to rise. You cannot get full time employment now because its all agencies and it will get worse after Sept 14. Agencies are going National , like the Supermarkets before them they will undercut local offices and get the all the work , if you want to work you need to join an agency , if you want an agency to sign you up you get a CPC , Simples

Yes, our colleagues from Romania and Bulgaria will be here by then, still, mustn’t complain eh, wouldn’t be the done thing to be “racist”.

or greedy thinking. I am happy with my rates although weekend rates would help pull in weekend drivers. Every work day is just a day to me but some of my fellow drivers have a life and therefore need an incentive to give up family time which is understandable. Personally i would like to see a 6th shift bonus cos i don’t want to do them any more and certainly don’t need the extra pay
There are probably quite a few agency drivers living on an hand to mouth basis.
Even if they can afford the £350 for the course, they then have to give up working time too. Sadly, I think that finances will prevent some people from doing a job that they are already competent in.

I think so too, agencies do what they like anyway so…

A nice thought, but that will only happen if there are very large numbers of drivers genuinely leaving the world of driving as of next september.
SO far, a few retirees might go, but they’ll be balanced out by an influx of squaddies, immigrants, and even a few agencies who’ve put their people through DCPC themselves.
I suggest the effect will be different across different areas. A place far away from the groups I’ve listed above might well see rates rise, or more likely the agencies simply go bust, because they can’t attract any drivers at all. Most places will likely see stagnant rates over the rest of the decade, because there’s no shortages in the locale.
I wonder how many part time drivers with agencies will do dcpc
I know a few who have a mon to fri job in another field but do the odd day driving LGVs but have not asked them if they have done dcpc - must do that next time I see them…

“Greedy thinking”
so you’re happy with your income…but still want more??
DCPC (akaFIMO) been around a long time in France. Plenty of agencies with lots of drivers seeking work. Can’t see it being any different in the UK.
No change in the grand scheme, some old driving faces will go, some new driving faces will take their place.
Few industrial jobs to be had outside driving, unless you want to work in a warehouse, and most of those stacked to the rafters with Chinese tat.
Warehousing and distribution is the name of the game when you turn a formerly industrial country into a giant warehouse.
Hi,
Good agencies will sort DCPC for drivers who want it before and after Sept 2014.
