I have a friend who I’m wanting to do a bit of driving for me during harvest but he turned 45 last year and his entitlement expired. If he wants to get it back now is it as simple as filling in the form D74P and sending it with a D4 to Swansea or does he need to do something extra given it’s been expired for a year? Do you send your licence off with it or not? The DVLA site doesn’t (that I can find) help much…
This is all I can find on it:
direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Dr … DG_4022087
TIA,
Paul
Take medical, send off the medical form, licence renewal form and the licence. Phone them up after a couple of days and see if it is on their system yet and if not keep phoning and as soon as they say yes, it is on the system he can drive. he doesn’t need to wait for the licence to come back. The fact it has been expired a year makes no difference.

As said he should apply for the license renewal in the usual way.

Thanks for the replies, I’ll tell him to go and get his medical done then.
