Possibly one of the best class 2 jobs you can obtain. Rates not to bad, a job for life ( possibly) & always got someone to see you back.
I’ve driven some of the newer bin lorries & it’s a comfortable drive & there are external cameras covering every angle.
As long as you can put up with the smell of other people’s rubbish it’s not a bad jobs. Good hours etc
Is this an accurate report from Perth & Kinross council?
Round my way (North Lanarkshire) it’s dead man’s shoes getting on the bins.
Started my career on the bins, Poor pay with short hours so very limited overtime potential, not great if you are in it just for the money, but can be a good laugh with your crew and usually finished by 3pm
There won’t be a real shortage - until even the well paid jobs can’t be filled, and people with “six points plus” on their licences “need not apply”…
Meanwhile, I think I’ll keep on for £14ph midweek at the supermarket. For January, that’s a good rate as far as I’m concerned.
Pad that out with some odd “leave cover” shifts at RM, also on decent money, even post-Christmas.
