Aftermarket head unit, scania

I want to change the headunit in my truck for one the has an aux output on it, if i do this will the remote on the back wall next to the bunk still work, need it working as i use it for the alarm clock (turns the radio on).

Cheers. Simon.

Don’t quote me but I replaced the head unit in the truck I used to drive for my old firm and from memory it just had the 2 standard ISO connectors on the back.

I’d hazard a guess that all the night heater control does is power the unit up by means of supplying a voltage to the isolated ignition feed, as the stereos fitted are just a regular 12v unit with a 12V permanent and 12V ignition feed.

Hope this helps…

Thanks for your reply, on cars ive worked on in the past they’ve had a seperate connector that plugs in the back for the hand controls on the wheel, didnt know if it was the same set up. Your probably right though as the alarm clock(on the bed controller) has a ringing bell on it and as can be set to turn the radio on, so it would seem as you said through some kind of witchcraft it jsut sends power to the radio. Best get myself down to halfords then i reckon.

I’m sure you can buy a genuine scania part that plugs into the back of your existing head unit that gives you an aux in plug. I think you remove a blank switch cover on your dash and replace it with your new aux in connection. Check their website, might be cheaper than a new head unit.

Edit to add.
This is the thing I’m ta talking about:

Thats quite interesting, think i’ll look in to that if its cheaper.

Yeah that will work. If you put a new head in, the steering wheel controls dont work. Not sure about the alarm radio function as i only used the bell.

The steering wheel controls don’t matter but the alarm kind of does because I’m quite a heavy sleeper.
