After a year of negativity....ive finally got a job

HI ALL,

After a year of struggling ive finally been given a chance and i did my induction on friday and start my new job monday…NERVOUS OR WHAT?

Congratulations mate, well done. Who are you working for/what are you driving?

congrats and well done.

Good things come to those who wait. Don t be nervous just do what u were trained to do. Well done.

Good on ya mate, and top marks for refusing to give up, like so many would.
You now have what you have rightly earned - so go show 'em who’s the daddy!!

Well done, now the learning begins :grimacing: PMA! positive mental attitude from now on :sunglasses:

well done m8 just take your time and dont believe half u hear any doubts always ask someone most guys be happy to help

By the end of the first day you will wonder what you were worrying about .Good luck.

Fair play buddy, I had the same thing near enough, had a whole year in and out of work then finally got a job driving a skip wagon, was ■■■■ wages but got myself a year experience in and now have moved on and work for another company, tramping in an 8-legger with a chance of moving up to arctic work in the future. It’s worth the wait bud and will all pay off in the end. Good on ya!

Being nervous is good, the day you stop being nervous you’ll be in trouble given the vehicle you’ll be driving. The hardest part is going to places you’ve never been to before, you don’t want to commit yourself to a road or yard and find you have no space to turn around. Plan as much as possible. Google Earth is a godsend; zoom in on your destination and reconnoiter it, or ring up the customer, or park up and walk in first etc. And always get turned around before you unload if possible. You might have an empty yard when you arrive but that can change and your big turning space might not be there after.

Good luck and stay safe.

Tick tock tick tock lol , well done and good luck tomorrow .

Good advice is to get out the cab and check if the lorry can get to where you want it to fit or not.
A few minutes walk can save a whole day lost to get towed out of a rural lane or stuck in a ditch.
Cars drive Formula One in country lanes, they won’t slow down on corners.
When parked up at night, most drivers fold their mirrors in and if empty or have a low value load , they open the trailer doors.
Well done and good luck.

Don’t forget to forget health and safety .then the job is yours nudge nudge

Congrats m8, well done, I know how you must be feeling, My son spent four and a half years looking for a job after being made redundant.
He had some low times but he never gave up and eventually he got a bobbies job that he’s now had for almost 12 months, good times eh?

Congratulations! Where did you find work in the end?

And old driver was introduced to me as being experienced and a bloke to talk to for advice and his words were “you name it ive hit it”. As a new inexperienced driver you will at some point go off the Tarmac and get sink like in a verge and you will have a few scrapes, but that’s all part of gaining experience and you learn from it. I was taught to “command the road” and is the best advice I had.

So does this mean damien88 you’ll stop ya ■■■■■■■ and moaning or will you be back if it don’t go your way or you don’t like it…Just like to have the heads up :grimacing:

So how was it then? Or was your first day a 15 hour one and your still on the road :grimacing:

Glad you got sorted with a job, hope its all going well for you
