After 6 yrs doing the job you need a assesment drive

About a week ago a load of our drivers were made redundant, today I had a few ring me saying they’d got letters asking if they were interested in a job working for the firm again:shock: :unamused: ,various locations, one of them it’s at a depot where they doexactly the work he did before for 6 yrs,but he has to fill in a application form,go for a interview, then assesment drive, all because the insurance company say so.
Don’t these insurance firms look at things on a individual basis, this lad knows the job inside out, they’ve a up to date file on him,so why all the extra expense of application form, interview, assesment drive, what a total waste of money, and don’t even get me started on making drivers redundant one week then offering them jobs the next, again a total waste of money.
All we here is a penny here, penny there on fuel is crippling the industry, then they waste thousands on this nonesense :unamused:

We had a long standing driver at our Wolves depot who had a change of personal circumstances and wanted to be transferred to our place in Avonmouth but before he was allowed to swap depots he had to have a driving assessment ffs so what was that all about.

For long enough in all industries/services, this has been the recognised and accepted method by management/accountants of reducing your wages and working conditions. Simples. :frowning:

If they’ve been offered the same work at the same place then they haven’t been made redundant, they’ve been sacked! :imp:

Take the firm to tribunal for unfair dismissal, (unless of course they’ve had a generous pay-off  )
